Weekly Wears: Vintage Scores
Happy Halloween, friends! I can't believe it's already here! The girls are pumped for trick-or-treating tonight and I'm pulling out my warmest clothes because it's supposed to be pretty chilly. Oh yeah, and I'm throwing chili in the crockpot so I can come home to warm comfort food.
Shirt: vintage from Maude Vintage // Dress: Whurl // Bow brooch: Color Theory // Shoes: Bali ELF
This outfit has nothing to do with spooky, scary things, but whatever. I'm sure tonight I'll find something to fit the theme for tonight. If you guys know of any great Halloween playlists, please leave me a link! I'm ready to celebrate!

DIY Fruit Bouquet
Tick-tock, tick-tock... do you hear that? Halloween is getting SO CLOSE! I'm looking forward to the parties coming this weekend and the actual trick-or-treating next week. I'm also excited to be teaming up with Edible Arrangements® today to turn my little Poesy into a fruit bouquet just in time for Halloween! Making this costume was super easy and super fun, so let me take you through the steps!
First, I cut out felt shapes for the strawberries, honey dew, and chocolate covered strawberries, bats, and ghosts. Since I wanted an extra pop of color for the cantaloupe, I used a printed fabric and glued it onto some poster board so it would stay upright.
I used some craft glue and yarn to give the chocolate strawberries a little more dimension and detail. Once the glue dried I simply trimmed the edges.
When I finished cutting all of my shapes, I glued them together to make the arrangement. Once the glue dried for this step, I safety pinned the fruit to one of Poesy's tee shirts and threw together some adorable accessories (including a little felt cut-out for her strawberry hat) to complete this simple and fun costume!
Who could ask for a better costume model, right? Poesy had a blast dressing up and having her picture taken.
Edible Arrangements® is typically my favorite way to tell someone "thank you" or "I'm thinking of you" but their bouquets and arrangements are also great for parties... such as a Halloween get together! Check out their site to see all of the delicious things they offer!

Weekly Wears: Matchy Matchy
You know that feeling of growing out of wanting to wear matching outfits? Yeah, I still haven't reached that point. I'll take all the matching dresses, please. Thankfully, Poesy thinks it's just the bees knees to match her mama! These Miss Patina dresses are making all of our twinning dreams come true. Oh, and of course we had to throw a red bow on Poesy's beloved pup, Rosie O'Donnell, (don't call him a her) so he could get in on this party.
Oh, those little freckles kill me...
dresses: c/o Miss Patina // my shoes: Bali ELF // Poesy's shoes: gift // glasses: BonLook (new stock coming soon!)
The leaves are starting to turn and it's finally starting to feel like Fall around here! We had a pretty mild summer (no complaints) and everything stayed green for much longer than normal. We made our first apple cobbler a couple of nights ago and it felt like the kick-off to the new season. I'm still scheming ways to find an appropriate spot in our house for an electric fireplace. I love everything about our house, but golly, I miss having a cozy fire when it's chilly! I'm pretty sure if I obsess enough, I'll figure it out. 😉

Kindness is Power- Carissa's Story
It makes me so happy to partner with companies who are trying to change the world through kindness and action. That's why today I'm working with Eau Thèrmale Avene in sharing Carissa's story here on my blog. Carissa went through years of being bullied because of her skin condition (eczema) and NO child should be picked on and harassed, especially because she was born with a disease with no cure. October is National Bullying Prevention month, and this is a cause that is near and dear to me.
Through Eau Thèrmale Avene's Kindness Campaign, you can purchase special kits where 100% of the proceeds will go to raising bullying prevention awareness. Let's help protect our littles from bullying. Check out the full video of Carissa's story right here. #AveneHope

Hope Turns 51... Or Something Like That
I figure if I'm properly getting back into blogging, I should probably catch you up on our big summer events. On August 22nd, Hope turned 15. Like, WHAT?! Basically, Facebook Timehop and I are enemies at the moment. "Hey. Remember when Hope was tiny? Let me show you a picture of that so you can cry in your coffee this morning." Thanks, Timehop. Does it really need to be an everyday occurrence? Anyway, this was probably the most low-key birthday celebration for Hope that I can remember... and it was really nice. Don't get me wrong, I love a good themed party, but it was special to just enjoy the day and take her out for some photos.
Since Hope has been in that anti-photo phase for a while, getting her situated for our mini session was pretty hilarious. I was so happy when she asked if we could do photos, though. Um... ABSOLUTELY ANYTIME!
We Sheltons are notorious for expecting extensive birthday celebrations, so we had her low-key party at our house the day of her actual birthday, and she also had an epic girls' sleepover and trip to Silver Dollar City the weekend before that.
Of course, Hope hung out with her friends for the sleepover and while we were at SDC, so Poesy had the time of her life getting all of the attention from her mama and daddy. We definitely didn't mind.

Protective Eyewear
I recently had the opportunity to be part of a campaign encouraging people to protect their eyes from digital eye burn. This is only something I've learned about recently and honestly, it explains why I often get severe headaches after long photo editing sessions. I've been making an effort in the past weeks to do a better job of preserving my sight by wearing my glasses with Kodak BlueReflect™ lenses from Coastal. The lenses use a special coating to reflect a portion of the blue light from screens and artificial lights. If you're interested, you can read more about it here.
Do any of you have special glasses for screens? I'm interested in knowing what you think of them!
