Today I'm excited to share our kitchen with you guys! If you remember this kitchen as the ABM studio kitchen, well, you'll see that I really haven't changed much so far. They did such a good job remodeling this room and honestly, I'm just super happy to have a functional kitchen these days. Our last kitchen needed some serious love, so cooking and baking in here is just wonderful!
The open shelving was a bit tricky for me at first. I've never had so much open shelving before and I most of my dishes are a hodge-podge of this and that. I guess I never realized that I have a "style" because when I started putting things out, everything kind of coordinated. Ha! Maybe I'm more predictable than I thought. Whatever the case, I love getting to display our kitschy collection out in the open!

I have future plans for this space, but I constantly have to remind myself that I'm guilty of being in perpetual "project" mode. I'd like to replace the flooring and countertops one day, but that will come with time. Easy, Katie... you can't do everything at once. Even though you keep trying. ;)

Your house is gorgeous! Can you tell me if your lower cabinets are just painted? If so, do you know if the paint is a matte or a gloss? We're gearing up for a (small budget) kitchen reno and I'm getting nervous about painting our cabinets...novice DIY-er over here! I had been thinking white cabinets, but your blue cabinets are winning me over.
ReplyDeleteThe paint is a semi-gloss, I believe. I'm always nervous about picking the right type of paint, so I just asked the woman at the paint counter what is best for cabinets and she gave me something that she said would cure harder than typical paint. It's holding up well so far!

DeleteOh I've been waiting for this! I love the new color you put in :) BUT please tell how that DIY countertop is holding up? You hope to change it - is the problem in looks or is there some practical issue? I'm buying my first own home soon and planning on what to diy and what to have professionaly done... The countertop is still holding up wonderfully! There are no cracks or major discoloration. Replacing the counter will be strictly superficial (another reason I'm forcing myself to wait). It was a really good diy-- I'm still impressed!
