Weekly Wears: Thrift Store Staples
It feels good to be unpacking my spring and summer clothes right now! We've had such lovely weather here in MO and it's been so nice meeting friends for outdoor dinners and gatherings. Plus, I never mind it when my yard is covered in tiny colorful flowers!

I always find that one of the easiest things for me to thrift are skirts. When I walk into a second hand shop and feel entirely overwhelmed by where to start, I typically head straight to the skirts and start flipping. I don't know if it's the place my brain needs to begin or I'm just really good at finding skirt treasures (the elastic waists make it pretty simple, too), but the skirt rack is my grounding. Do you have a place where you typically start in thrift stores? I'm always curious about others' methods.
Well, I just found out our Hancock Fabrics store is closing down, so I'm off to stock up on fabric and whatnot! Have the loveliest Thursday, friends!
Katie, your thrifted skirt is AMAZING!! And now, I need to go scour my local thrift shop for something just like it! Also, yes agreed, I too have great luck with skirts when I go thrift shopping! Looking gorgeous, girly!! xo

I do the same thing with shoes and dresses! I look for high quality clogs and brightly patterned dresses as a litmus test for the rest of the store. If I find something good, I dive in!
ReplyDeleteSo lovely your look with the maxi skirt!

Dresses, they're always what I begin with and most of the times at least one follow with me home. I have rarely any luck with skirts but when I do they're perfect. I wish I had your skirt game, I need more skirts in my wardrobe.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I love how your outfits, you always look so beautiful and it's very inspirational.

ReplyDeleteI can't find a good thrift store here, but I keep on looking.
While the summer is arriving for you, the winter is coming for me. Well, that's life. Enjoy :)

I love the skirt! I wish the UK had thrift stores like in the US! Ours are charity shops, and they literally have the most unfashionable granny clothes - like sweaters and blouses and old people trousers. I loved it when I visited the US and got to go thrifting - I found so many amazing skirts!

I'm in Florida, so the rate of "granny clothes" is pretty high here. It takes some eye training, but often its more a matter of hemline and color and you can create some pretty fantastic stuff with a sewing machine :)
DeleteI always start with the purses/bags, then move on to shoes, dresses, shirts, pants, and knick knacks. In the order. It's a habit now.
ReplyDeleteGreat outfit Katie. I tend to look at dresses first, then too's and then skirts. Funny how we each have a particular starting point. I love all my thrift stores in my town. I'm lucky we have few different ones in my town. I'm heading into winter, though I'm really loving our autumn. We had a very long and not summer so I'm so happy to have some cooler weather now. Enjoy your spring.

ReplyDeleteLove that skirt! I always go straight for the skirts and dresses when thrifting too! Although there are far too many thrifting options here in L.A., it's hard to choose what to take home, because it can quickly become an expensive habit! haha!
ReplyDeleteLove the whole outfit here though!
Thanks for sharing, doll!
