As you know,
Rachel and I have poured a lot of time and love into our
Sew With Us ecourse, and today I'm excited to offer 3 lucky winners access to it! The response to the course has been just wonderful so far and I'm happy to have the opportunity to include more of you in something so dear to us.
To enter, leave a comment here telling me a bit about your sewing story. Are you a newbie? Have you sewn before? What are you most interested in creating? I can't wait to hear!
Rachel will also be giving away some slots on her blog, so stay tuned for that!
I'll be choosing the winner next Tuesday, April 7th. Please be sure I have a way to contact you if you win. Good luck, friends!! xo.
Great giveaway! I am a sewing newbie and would love to learn so I can make things for my daughter and son (who will be joining us in a week or two!)
ReplyDeleteI've dabbled in sewing, but I don't know a lot of the correct techniques. I'd love to sew dresses that are the exact patterns, fabrics, and fit that I want!
ReplyDeleteI am completely new to sewing, and inherited a machine from my grandmother last fall. It will be so special to me to learn on a machine that I know has been responsible for several memorable costumes and projects from my childhood. I have lists of fantastical ideas for things to create for my three year old daughter. Yay!
ReplyDeleteI'm a brand-newbie! My grandma just gave me her sewing machine and I'm so excited albeit a little intimidated to use it. I'm most interested in making pillows and eventually (!) dresses for myself and my sister based on some beautiful 1960s Vogue dress patterns I've seen.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on finishing the course, can't wait to take it!
How awesome! I've been sewing for about six years now, but still have a lot to learn. If I win, though, I plan on gifting the course to my sister. She has just started learning how to sew because she moved to the other side of the country and can't have me as her seamstress!
ReplyDeletekatie.faller@gmail.com
I am a total noob when it comes to sewing! SO much i need to learn!
ReplyDeleteI've never sewn before but I'd love to learn, I'd be so excited to start creating!

I've had a sewing machine for over a year now. Haven't been brave enough to experiment with it.This would be a good opportunity to kickstart my sewing journey!
ReplyDeleteI'm a newbie, but I would like to learn so I can make costumes and clothes for my future kid!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great giveaway!!! Well I grew up with 2 grandmothers that loved sewing and I would always help and thread the needle, but it wasn't until a few years ago that I really wanted to learn. I wanted to open an etsy account and sell cute pillows or handbags! So I inquired at my local Joann's about sewing classes and lucky for me they had a class that day that they offered to charge me half price for, and I would just have to buy the fabric. I thought it was meant to be so I went for it, only problem was she than told me it was a kids class. I was thinking this is going to be....interesting. I was about 28 at the time. Well I was the only one paying attention to the instructor and not talking (they were all about 8 years old) Needless to say, I ended up taking the class and loving it and making a super cute pillowcase.
ReplyDeleteI am new to sewing - mu Mum just gave me her old sewimg machine .hose sleeping bags look fabulous. Cheers Sarah
ReplyDeleteI am a newbie and I'm getting my very own sewing machine (Martha) tomorrow. I would love the opportunity to sew along with you and Rachel xx
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! I just purchased my sewing machine this past December, so I'm still a beginner. I'd love to learn how to make some tops and dresses for the summer. wendywave@hotmail.com
ReplyDeleteOMG so awesome!! I've been sewing (not that great) off and on for a few years but I just can't get the hang of larger projects :( I'd love to start making my own clothes but I can't seem to play nice with patterns (or even properly measure for that matter!) I need all the help I can get!
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting this giveaway :) :)
I love to sew, but would like some ideas for new projects...and sometimes it's just fun to follow along with someone else, ya know!? Would love to win!

Oh I so HOPE I win! My mom is wonderful seamstress (she even made my wedding dress!) and she would've taught me but I was never interested. Now here I am in my mid-30's and I would love to learn. Then I could put my sewing machine and "If I Sewed" Pinterest board to work! Time is always an issue so a class that I can follow along with online and be able to go back to again and again seems ideal. Thanks for the chance to win a spot!
ReplyDeleteI started sewing when I was a little girl. I was just remembering my mom making clothes for my Cabbage Patch dolls and wanting to help. I didn't really learn how to sew until I was an adult. I had to get the guts to rip out the stitches 1 million times if I had to! Now I make really simple things like ragdolls for my kids. I'd like the chance to make some other types of things like the projects you guys came up with. :)
ReplyDeleteI wanted to sew for as long as I can remember. But when I was six, I didn't get a sewing machine for christmas, neither when I was ten an wanted one for my birthday.
ReplyDeleteNo that I'm 20 I finally bought one myself. So far I didn't do a lot with it. My biggest project was recreating Louise Belcher's bunny hat. (I looks stunning ;-) )
However, I'm looking forward to do more!
I took home economics in middle school, and I can hand sew. My mom has a sewing machine, and I could probably dig out my sister's as it didn't go with her when she moved to the UK.
ReplyDeleteArgh! I would LOVE to win this! I'm a newbie at sewing with a machine. I'm ok with hand sewing, but I have so many projects on my to do list that need to be done with a machine. I'm pregnant and want to make tons of baby leggings and clothes for my little one!
ReplyDeleteI am a total newbie! I really want to learn more about sewing, though. In the past I've gotten by (slowly!) by hand-sewing small pillows and things. My machine is old, but I want to learn how to use it better.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for offering this giveaway! My email is kate@cloveranddot.com
Oh fun! I've been meaning to buy the e-course as it looks so good. I am a newbie when it comes to sewing. I recently got a sewing machine for my birthday but I haven't used it yet as I don't know where to start. This e-course looks like the perfect thing to get me started with sewing.
ReplyDeleteHi, Katie!
ReplyDeleteThis is so nice of you. I love to watch your sewing final products. I have a sewing machine that I use daily, but I have started this hobby in november (so I definitely not an expert). Mostly, my creations include refashion some flea market clothes. I'd like to learn more about creating stuffs than just adapting them to fit my size.
The best part of sewing is to know that you wear something made by yourself (am I right?). Am about your sewing - the patterns! You guys are so good with pattern mixes.
xo,
Diana
not a newbie, but also too impulsive too measure so nothing comes out great whoops :) want to do more clothing refashions
ReplyDeleteMy grandma sewed her entire life for other people and for her family, I grew up always watching her over the sewing machine :) She taught me the basics but passed away before she could show me everything. She left me two sewing machines and lots of pretty clothes :) I want to catch up on learning and eventually be as good as her and make lost of pretty dresses!
ReplyDeleteThank you for this opportunity.
i think the most i've actually sewn on a machine was in 8th grade home ec.
ReplyDeletei LOVED it then, but never really had the opportunity to get into it more. Recently a woman from my church group gave me her old sewing machine and i've been itching to bust it out...be feel at a loss. i would love to read and learn from your course, i've come so close to signing up but $$$ is a little tight at the moment. thanks for the opportunity!
I can't sew at all, but my grandmother used to be an avid knitter and also crocheted. She made me one of my favorite blankets, and one of my favorite parts of her visiting (she lives 9 hours away) when I was little, was her adding squares to the blanket.
ReplyDeleteI would love to be able to make things to give to my loved ones as well.
I've sewn a couple of things such a pillowcase or hair accessories. But this e-course would so help in doing other projects!

Hey Katie!
ReplyDeleteI am so excited about your new ecourse! I've been lazily sewing for years now; I fell in love when I first learned in seventh grade for class. I go through spurts, but would still qualify myself as a newbie! This year, my goal is to make a quilt.
My mom and I love to thrift, and for years I always relied on her for quick alterations and fixes to clothing I'd find. One day she finally sat me down and taught me the basics... a few weeks later and my husband bought me my own little machine and you couldn't keep me away from it! I am still not as skilled as my mom, but I love being able to fix items myself and work on little projects. I love turning cheap finds into something unique and personal. My sister is currently pregnant and I'd love to my make my new niece or nephew a sweet blanket.
ReplyDeleteI started sewing in 2007 but taught myself, which means there are loads of gaps in my skillset. I'd love to dive into your course!
ReplyDeleteI was a newbie until one day I decided to make a quilt! Then I became a self-proclaimed pro! Although I haven't sewed since...
ReplyDeleteI am brand-spanking-new to the sewing world and would love to learn more! My mom just gave me her old machine. I'm hoping to get it serviced soon and get to work learning all about it. This would definitely help get me on the right track :)
ReplyDeleteI've definitely been eyeing this class! Cute and useful projects. I have some sewing experience, and have been lucky enough to have a Mother-in-law who gifted me with a machine, and who has shown me some projects (my own Mom has too). I would love to have some more skills, and some lovely and beautiful new projects to try from this course!
ReplyDeleteI learned to sew from my mother, who could make anything, with or without a pattern! She passed way in 2010 and I have her sewing machine, serger and her stash of fabric and notions. I love to spend time sewing with her stuff, it makes me feel better. I just don't have her talent :( I've made a few garments, but fitting is a struggle so I usually stick with bags, pillows, baby quilts, etc. Love your blog, thanks!
ReplyDeleteoh wow! This is such a fantastic giveaway, thank you for offering it! I'm still a newbie, but want to be so, so much more. I actually asked for a sewing machine for my 21st birthday, but between some big life transitions and not having a lot of other sewists, it's been three years and I haven't made much progress. Sewing my own outfits is a major goal for me, letting me take my style into my own hands. The ecourse isn't something i can afford on my own right now, so this would be a fantastic chance to learn more and finally get some experience with other people. Thank you again! (hannahjoyhopes@gmail.com, in case I'm chosen)
ReplyDeleteI have sewn on and off since I was a kid. However, I have no idea how to follow a pattern or anything fancy. I can do basic sewing, like hemming pants and making skirts. I really want to learn how to make clothes/toys for my 8 month old daughter! I have made a couple of little things but I still have a lot to learn!
ReplyDeleteI'm probably intermediate one the scale of beginning to expert - I can sort of follow a pattern, and I can wing things and have them turn out about 33% of the time. Mending! I can mend and take in. :p I love being inspired for new things; trying to mix ideas and patterns. I'd love to have a small sewing business one day, but we'll see. :) It can be frustrating when there's a lot of failure still in ideas and endeavors.

Thanks for this opportunity!
p.s. I don't know if you'll be able to contact me through my last comment; my email address is rebecca.may.dykstra at gmail dot com
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome! How do I qualify myself hmmm...well, I'm self taught and I'm certainly not a perfectionist. I'm guilty of getting an idea and just going for it, making things up as I go along and hoping for the best. I've had a fair amount of successes this way. My blog, http://honeyandmay.com, is focused on refashioning clothing. I guess my ultimate goal is to be able to sell what I make and this course might help me refine my skills. Sorry for the long winded answer! I love what you ladies are doing. Thanks for this opportunity :) kathleenweaver91@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteMy mom taught me how to sew: she is a meticulous quilter, I am more of an okay-ish sewer! I lack patience for long projects and I am looking for more ideas and tricks for projects I could complete over a weekend. I love to incorporate stuff I made to my wardrobe, my home, and give them away to friends and family!
ReplyDeleteLove from Canada!

I would love to relearn the basics of sewing! My mom taught us when we were young, but I didn't keep up with it so I'm lost as can be, now! We just adopted our two year old son, so it feels like the perfect time to start up again with bedding, clothes, curtains, etc...
ReplyDeleteMy email is: rpedrick at gmail
I've been sewing for a couple of years, but I haven't had much time for it since having kids. I'd like to brush up on my sewing basics and add some new skills to my repertoire so I can make some pretty things for our home!
ReplyDeleteAs a kid, I hand-sewed (+ embroidered) all sorts of things. Then in 7th grade, I took a sewing class + I made a shark pillow and a pair of shorts with a sewing machine. :) But I didn't continue with the sewing machine even though my mom is a badass seamstress. So, recently I've tried to pick it up again, teaching myself by watching YouTube videos + calling my mom in a panic. I've turned some old corduroy pants into re-usable shopping bags, hemmed some pants, and made travel-size tissue cozies for my mom + grandma. But I would love to learn more!!! I'd love to make pillowcases and dresses and sleeping bags and and AND!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this opportunity! xoxo!!!
Hey! I love the last picture!
ReplyDeleteI used to sew tiny felt purses when I was about 6, since then I have made a few bigger things with my mums help, but have always been a bit intimidated by the complicated patterns and instructions. I would love to make cute dresses and bags!
P.S I LOVE your blog! Whenever I read it, I want to take more pictures, and wear more dresses instead of sweatpants :)
xo Ellen
I got my first sewing machine in 8th grade, where I threw together a pretty messy dress (it looked okay though!), and have done a few other projects here or there, but never learned how to ACTUALLY sew and I'd love to! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Katie! When I was really young my mom taught me how to sew. She would sew matching outfits for me and my American Girl doll to wear together when I was younger. One of my favorite memories as a kid was waking up to the sound of my moms sewing machine working away! It was such a comforting sound. After moving out of my parents house, I had no access to a sewing maching any more. So this past Christmas, after months of me crying and begging for a machine of my own, my parents bought me my first sewing maching! YAY! I set a goal this year that I would sew my very first quilt and last month I did just that! It's not perfect, but I learned a lot, and am already looking forward to attempting another quilt. I have been following you and Rachael for years and was so excited when I first heard about a sewing e-course! I can see myself making almost all the projects listed, and would love to learn more about sewing. I would love to feel more confident in my work as well!
ReplyDeletexoxo
Growing up I'd spend every summer at my grandma's in Missouri! She has a long-arm quilting business and a beautiful Singer that she's had since she was 21! While she would work on her quilts, I'd mess around on her sewing machine. I was one of the few grade school kids who loved to sew. I have a basic Singer machine now, while I make quilt tops and pillows, I'd really love to experiment with clothing and decor. Thank you guys for being inspiring!
ReplyDeleteOh My Goodness! I would love to win this ecourse! I've always tried to be a sewer but never really enjoyed it/never had a project turn out. I tried to make your adorable horse head on a stick (that's probs not it's name) a few years ago and it was cute but NOT that great in the sewing area. I firstly, don't really get how to thread the machine - which may be part of the issue ;) secondly, I have no idea how to 'finish' a pillow case - how the heck do you make the closing disappear!? And thirdly I would love to be able to sew simple clothing for my future kids, and make things for my home. I will do this ecourse whether I win this or not BUT winning would be sweet! I never win! You are always an inspiration and I look forward to learning from you soon! xo Cori Anne

I grew up hand sewing. My mom used to make her own clothes when she was a teenager and I thought that was so cool! In high school, I used to spend hours after school sewing little felt bags, embroidering shirts, and creating tiny stuffed animals. My last big project (and the only one on a sewing machine!) was a homemade blanket I made for my friend who was deploying for Afghanistan. I ended up marrying that friend and the blanket has survived 2 deployments!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, life ended up getting in the way of my sewing. I finished college, moved across the country, and went through a few different jobs. I now have enough time in my day to spend on myself and I have always wanted to get back into sewing. Especially learn more about using a sewing machine. Learning to use a sewing machine without calling my mom for help for a whole project is like goal number one for me. :)
I'm a newbie. I think it would be really fun to know how to create with fabric!
ReplyDeleteI'm a newbie but I've had a lot of fun with the small projects I've created! This course looks fantastic! xx
ReplyDeleteMy mom was a costume designer so I spent my childhood making doll clothes but have really fallen out of practice and would love to learn more about practical projects. I am super in love with the hexagon rug! Swoon.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! The course looks great!

I want to keep learning to sew clothes. It's so rewarding to wear something you made yourself.
ReplyDeleteI've been interested on learning how to sew for as long as i can remember, it would make me very happy to take your ecourse and try it one more time :3
ReplyDeletecarmilamacias@gmail.com
Dear Katie,
ReplyDeletemy sewing story begins with my mother's mother. Grandma OtÃlia was a great dressmaker. She can't sew as well as she used to sew because of a condition in her hands. She sewed so many clothes for her daughters and granddaughters. My prom dress? She sewed. Today she has a great-grandson and she can't sew an outfit for him. :( Her daughters and granddaughters know how to survive: repair a sock or sew the hem. But we don't know how to sew something from the start. I think this ecourse could help me and make my grandma proud.
:)
This is amazing! I am planning on buying the course no matter what but it would be amazing to win it! My mom and my grandma both taught me how to sew. I grew up in a very creative environment. I have been sewing for years, I usually work without a pattern, but I would love to get better at it. I am also interested in learning some technical things that I'm just not great at, like making bias tape. I am mostly just looking forward to being inspired!
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm sooo excited about this course, extra excited to hear about the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteGrowing up my mom always tried to teach me to sew. I remember once a year spending time with her sewing matching dresses. I enjoyed it but only later did I realize that the reason not too much stuck with me was that my mom hated sewing! She always had hated it, and admits that not, but felt it was the kind of thing she "should" teach me. But it just didn't work to try to instill love of something you don't love yourself! I always wanted to do more though. Around 13, when the matching dress novelty wore off, so did the seeing tradition.
At 18, I went to live in Guatemala to do volunteer work, and in my effort to find any English books I came across a book called Generation T that I absolutely fell in love with in my media isolation. It's all about how to make everything you can think of out of thrifted t shirts, and with no hemming and minimal hand sewing skills needed, it was a perfect starting point. I absolutely recommend it for all girls around Hopes age! I stated sewing every single day, making bikinis and skirts and pillows and curtains and even upholstering my furniture with thrifted tees! It was hard to find clothes I liked in Guatemala, so I would alter thrifted finds. Soon enough I bought a sewing machine and continued sewing away in the afternoons in my little rural Guatemalan house with rain on the tin roof, my goats outside my window. I lived there for four years, and even though I still love to sew, somehow I didn't much progress past that skill level. I love to embroider and I sew softies and toys and curtains, but any kind of fitting for clothing is way beyond me. I feel like even though I'm enjoying myself I've been in a rut for a long time, and now that I have a motherless niece who looks to me to teach her many of the sorts of things a mom would, I remember my mom, and that she couldn't teach me what she didn't have herself. So I'm dying to improve. There's been a lot of courses out there on the internet, but they don't typically offer skills or projects that appeal to me, until now! I hope one way or another to get to see more of this course, definitely. That button up skirt! That kimono! That velvet maxi! I'm in love!

The extent of my sewing experience has been mending my husband's pants on various friends' sewing machines while on tour, and always taking so long to just figure out how to make the machine do what I want. I received my own sewing machine as a gift last year and would love to get more confidant with alterations and maybe even make something from scratch. Thanks for doing this giveaway!
ReplyDeleteOoh, thank you for the chance to win the e-course!
ReplyDeleteI'm a newbie, really, I've tackled a few small projects recently (elasticated waistband skirt, and hand-sewing a patchwork cushion, then machine-sewing a patchwork cushion) but I'd like to get my momentum going to start some bigger projects. (Also, like a few others, being able not to call-on my mum to bail me out when something goes wrong/I don't understand what to do next!)
I'm pretty new to sewing -- a couple years ago, I decided I wanted to learn! I fell head over heels. Last Christmas, my mom bought me a 1960s Viking machine from a flea market and we got it tuned up. It's a great first sewing machine, and I know it will last me for years. I'm in grad school out of state right now, and I miss my sewing machine a lot! Can't wait to move home and get back into it.
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother taught me to sew at a young age, but in the subsequent years of high school, college, and stuff office jobs I have since lost all confidence. I would really love to step back into the ring. I have plans to make a quilt sometime soon, as in I have the material, just no plan of attack yet. I would love to get the change to go through this course and maybe find my old skills again.
ReplyDeleteI´m a newbie. I´m interested making pillow covers and other decoration things! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a sewing newbie which is why I think this course would be perfect! I have a brand new sewing machine Im excited to start using and the biggest collection of oddly patterned material (think goldfish, toy soldiers, hamburgers, icecreams and many many more.... I may actually have a problem!). You can never own too many fantastic patterns right...
ReplyDeleteEven though I've spent my whole life near a sewing machine (my mum is a seamstress) I know very little about sewing, so I would love to learn how to sew.
ReplyDeleteThanks for giving us the chance to win a slot in this e-course!
My e-mail is: patricia.lara@outlook.com
I used to love sewing as a child - my Mum taught me how to sew and it was one of my favourite things we did together! I haven't used a sewing machine in years but would love to get back into it. I actually asked for a machine for my birthday this year and got one! I just really need the help and inspiration to get back on track :) Love the projects you do! Email: st630123@dal.ca
ReplyDeleteMy mom is a quilter so I grew up sewing and quilting. When I was little, I used to sew bags from her quilt scraps. In middle school, I sewed my first pattern - bunny pajamas. Since then, I've made countless bags, pajamas, skirts, and dresses.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh. You are so creative, and the entire AM team. I really want to see what you've come up with. My sewing skills have gotten a bit rusty but I was getting pretty good. I haven't been able to sew much the past 3 YEARS cuz my daughter was born and she always has to be doing what I'm doing. Recenter she allowed me to go in my room and fix/sew something and left me alone. This makes me excited and I'm ready to get back to it. I would also like to learn more about drafting my own patters and altering patterns.
ReplyDeleteI grew up with an expert seamstress for a mother. She was always working on something whether it was pajama pants for me and my sisters, or some fancy curtains for one of her clients. Unfortunately, I didn't get the sewing bug until I became an adult and I am not nearly as gifted as my mother is. I have my own sewing machine and have dabbled with a few different simple projects, such as a tote bag, curtains, and a stuffed kitty. One thing I would really love to do is create my own clothing, especially some cute dresses to wear in the summertime. -Justene (justenepresley@gmail.com)
ReplyDeleteI am most definitely a sewing newbie! I am a newly single mother of 2 toddlers and am not only l looking for ways to save money ( ie. knitting, sewing the items i would normally buy), but i also feel like it's time for a new hobbie that i can explore during my "me" time. Thanks for the opportunity.
ReplyDeletei would love to win this!! i am a total sewing newbie (i hemmed a skirt once), but it's something that i always want to get better at! it's so intimating to have that sewing machine staring at me all the time, but i just don't know where to start! haha. i am a huge thrifter and my main goal is to be able to buy pieces and alter them just a bit so they are more to my taste (shorter hemline, better fit, no sleeves, etc.). i think this course would be so perfect for me!! thanks!!!!

Oh my goodness, I would LOVE the opportunity to win this ecourse.
ReplyDeleteYears and years ago, I asked for a sewing machine for Christmas with the intention of learning to sew. I got it, opened it up, and quickly became intimidated. I signed up for a class at a local sewing shop, but they canceled at the last minute.
Soon after that, I began two years of traveling and teaching. I taught in South Korea for a year and then went to rural Alaska to teach a class of five kindergarteners. During that time, I couldn't transport my sewing machine. The poor thing rested prostrate in my old bedroom closet.
Now, I'm back in the States and am settling down in San Diego. I've dedicated 2015 to pursuing all of my creative passions. I started a new blog and opened an Etsy shop. My husband and I are also crossing our fingers for a baby in the next year.
It's always been a dream of mine to sew little clothes for my future baby. I can't really imagine being a mom without knowing how to sew. I actually have a notebook filled with ideas for sewing projects… Now I just need the skills to get started!
I'd absolutely love to win this ecourse and learn to sew. It would be such a blessing to me financially and creatively.
Thank you for creating such a wonderful tutorial and for giving us girls the opportunity to glean from your knowledge and experience!

I am a sewing newbie. I learned in 8th grade, but that was a long time ago! I would like to make things for my home.
ReplyDeleteI've had my sewing machine in my closet for two years -- and the getting start process has made me too intimated to learn the ins-and-outs. I'd be especially excited to learn how to get started and ease into it!
ReplyDeleteYou are the coolest!! I check your blog everyday! I learned to sew (poorly) in high school and have spent the last 18 years since then cursing at my sewing machine at least twice a year when I decide to hem a pair of pants or sew a straight line. I want to sew! I want to make adorable things *ALLTHEADORABLETHINGS!!* but I have almost no sewing knowledge and can barely work my machine. Help me, Katie, you're my only hope! - Redheaded in Wyoming
ReplyDeleteMy aunt taught me to sew when I was 10 years old. Almost 20 years later, I remember the basics, but don't feel comfortable with anything more than sewing on a button or fixing a seam. This course sounds awesome and exactly what I need to become comfortable with sewing again!
ReplyDeleteMy mom gave me her old sewing machine years ago (I think it possibly was my grandmother's before that), and since then it's been gathering dust in my closet. I'd love to learn to use it and make something cute. :)
ReplyDeleteHi! My mom has been sews really well and even sells children's clothes on etsy. Since I was young she's thought me some sewing skills. I have made lots of things but with harder projects I always ask her to help me (or do the hard parts for me). I would love to learn more about sewing and be able to do a whole project and learn great tips to help with future projects.
ReplyDeleteI have a sewing machine but I'm so intimidated by it that I just end up hand-sewing everything. But I'd love to learn more about my machine and be able to sew up some skirts for my daughter and I. I think it would be so fun to let her pick out fabric and embellishments and then I can sew up her designs for us!
ReplyDeleteHello! Thanks for a chance to win this ecourse! I've been sewing off and on for a few years but I tend to make the same simple things. It would be great to have guidance and motivation to improve my skills with this course for sure!
ReplyDeleteWhile I spend a lot of my time hand sewing (traditional embroidery and bead embroidery), lately I've had the urge to get into machine sewing. I would love to make a quilt to snuggle under while camping this summer!
ReplyDeleteI sewed a bit in 4-H. But, my mom is a fantastic sewer and I never had a real need to sew. Recently, I have begun to renew a love for sewing and have made a few buntings for friends!
ReplyDeleteI have always had an interest in sewing but have never learned how to actually do it on my own. I grew up with my mom sewing my Halloween costumes and fixing my clothes, but now that I am on my own I have no idea where to start! I received a sewing machine for Christmas 2 years ago and immediately sat down to sew reusable coffee cup sleeves (under my mom's supervision of course!) and it was such a thrill to be able to see something come together created totally by me. They looked ugly and crooked at first, but when my lines started straightening out it felt SO good. I felt proud. But then when I took my sewing machine home I ran into trouble and have never sewn since :( I have recently been in a real creative rut and I have been aching to start trying to sew again, but I don't know where to go or what to do. When I saw this e-course was being offered it was sort of eerie how goo the timing was in my life. Winnig this giveaway would be amaaaazing! I would just LOVE to learn some terms, learn some skills, and most of be able to be proud of myself for something creative again :)

DeleteI bought a sewing machine off craigslist but I barely know how to use it! I'd love to be able to create my own clothes some day!
ReplyDeleteThis course looks so good! I have been sewing aprons and other straight lines for years, but every time I try to move into sewing clothes I'm met with so many frustrations! Patterns never end up quite right and by the end of every project I vow to never sew again :) I would love something to help me improve my skills and make sewing clothes more doable!
ReplyDeleteI'm a relative newbie to sewing. I've made countless pillows, but I'd love to branch out to pattern reading and clothing.
ReplyDeleteI am not completely intimidated by sewing, but would love to become more comfortable with my machine and more skilled. My biggest project to date is cloth napkins - and the first half of them took FOREVER - until I tinkered with my settings and then it was a breeeeeeze!
ReplyDeleteWould love to grow my skills and comfort zone, would really love to be able to put together some things for my house and myself from my flea market finds!
Thanks Katie for the chance! I am a newbie to sewing, I bought my first sewing machine like a year ago but although my plans were learning more everyday until I could sew a piece of clothing I have only felt cobfident enough to trim the curtains in our living room. As a kiddo I used to watch my grandma who was very skilled with her Singer, and now I deeply regret not asking her to teach me at least some basics. Thanks Katie for the chance! ReplyDeleteI'm somewhat of a sewing newbie...I've had a sewing machine since I was 12, but every time my mom and I tried to use it, we would end up in tears! Since then I've gotten a new machine, and am finally starting to sew my own clothes (15 years later). I would love to take this course and get better!
ReplyDeleteI am a pretty new seamstress and use my mom's old machine, but my mom was a sewing genius (she made her own prom dress!). A couple of years ago I attempted Rachel's patchwork ecourse, which was my first real sewing experience, and I would love to learn how to use my machine better and how to make clothes!
ReplyDeleteI've had a sewing machine for a couple of years, and thanks to my late grandmothers in-law QVC addiction, it's quite nice. I, however, cannot sew a straight line. That makes sewing the simplest project difficult. My grandmother has tried to teach me numerous times. She can do it all from simple pillowcases to upholstery. She's so patient with me, but something hasn't quite clicked for me...yet.
ReplyDeleteWoah I would love to win this e-course! I've been thinking about buying it since I saw it on ABM last week. I'm a newbie, just got my sewing machine about a year ago for Christmas. I haven't spent much time with it, I can barely sew straight. I'm working on some window curtains right now, took me a whole night just for one panel (2 more to go!), my lines are crooked but I sure am proud that I made it myself :D. I think it's so much fun, so whether I win or not I will continue to sew and maybe even buy the e-course at some point. But winning would be much sweeter ;)
ReplyDeleteWow! This could not have come at a better time :)
ReplyDeleteI grew up hand stitching clothes; all very small projects, more just upkeep (holes, etc) sometimes I'd take in a shirt I found while thrifting. I didn't purchase my sewing machine until I was 19, I had an overwhelming desire to make my own clothes ! However, it has been a couple years since then, I've made a couple small projects but have always felt like I could do so much more ! I've been following Skunkboy & ABM for a long time now, so I know I'm going to love this course! Not to mention how nice i'll be to have someone be able to answer my questions directly (there is hardly any classes offered in my town! boo)
Thank you for this chance! :):)

I sewed throughout middle and high school and learned everything from my mom who made our halloween costumes as a child! I would love to be inspired to sew again! :)
ReplyDeleteWhere to begin...I grew up watching my grandmother sewing. She was wonderful, making quilts, clothes, all sorts of thing. She always made all of my sisters and I special Easter and Christmas dresses every year. She would occasionally let me try my hand at some simple pillows or a little tote bag, but I never stuck with it. Fast forward about 15 years and I have decided sewing is a skill I want to learn. I bought a machine, fabric, and a few patterns. I made an apron, some easy fleece blankets for Christmas presents, and one simple dress...then I didn't touch the machine for almost 2 years. I will occasionally hem a pair of pants or repair a seam, but I have yet to make something for myself that I really love. I would really love to be able to make some simple dresses for myself, but I am always so afraid that I will mess up and I am not too familiar with my machine. I guess I haven't had too much extra time and I am afraid to start a project because I like to finish everything at once and I know if anything goes wrong, I won't have the extra time to complete the project. I would love to learn more about sewing in general so that I can sew without fear and be confident that I can fix any bumps in the road!
ReplyDeleteI am a newbie to sewing but these projects are so inspiring.
ReplyDeleteI learned to use a sewing machine when I took quilting lessons the summer going into 5th grade. I loved it - I found it so therapeutic and I was surprisingly good at it! After that summer, however, the lessons stopped and I didn't know how to continue on my own. My sewing machine has thus remained untouched since that summer - EIGHTEEN years ago! I think it's high time I get back on the sewing horse, don't you?
ReplyDeleteOh wow, this is an awesome giveaway! I learned the basics and how to work my sewing machine from my grandmother, who was an amazing seamstress. I really wish I'd learned more from her before she passed. This would be a great way to get back into it!
ReplyDeleteI have only ever made a pillow case with my sewing machine, and then felt stuck! I'd love to take a class to help me through the process of learning how to sew.
ReplyDeleteYay I am so glad you posted this! Would love to win this! Well, I am a dabler of sewing machine, I usually hand sew everything. I learned a little of machine sewing when my grandmother gave me her antique Singer which was a paddle machine, I loved that thing it was awesome. However, I had to put my sewing machine and all my other furniture into a storage unit because I had to move out of my apartment. I was unable to make the payments on my unit and lost everything, including my sewing machine.
ReplyDeleteI was recently given another machine a Singer no less and would love to learn how to sew! I want to make a dress and not any dress! See my 14 year old daughter will be going to her first dance (yep with a boy, I know! Crazy right?) The dance is a Candy Land theme, I would like to make her an amazing dress! This would be AMAZING! I would love to just buy the e-course and I read about it but money is so tight right now I can't afford it, so I am entering your giveaway! So thank you for the amazing opportunity!!!!!
XOXOXO Kara Racine @ kaderon32@aol.com
Thank you for the opportunity to win this e-course Katie!
ReplyDeleteI am a newbie. I cross-stitched when I was a little girl, but was a bit lead-footed when it came to using the sewing machine. I recently bought a home and was gifted a sewing machine for my bday. I'm eager to get to know my new friend by making curtains, pillow cases, you-name-it!
I've been wanting to learn to sew for so long! My mother always sewed our Halloween costumes and Raggedy Anne dolls growing up, but unfortunately she never taught me! Really excited to learn. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Katie! I am so excited with this giveaway! I had never wanted to learn how to sew until I hit bottom with my work (I'm an EFL teacher-in case you don't know what that means, Englsh as a Foreign Language) and I was totally burnt out. Then I saw my friend's handmade laptop case and I just wanted to make one for mine too. Since then, a magic world has opened up to me: the world of crafting! I remembered the skills my mum had taught me when I a was a little girl (crochet, knitting and embroidery) and bought a sewing machine and started small projects. I only make small projects and my wish is that someday I'll be able to make clothes from scatch!
ReplyDeleteThanks again and good luck with everything you do! xoxo Evanthia

I'm a novice when it comes to sewing. I'm actually going to attempt some nursery projects this weekend. Wish me luck!
ReplyDeleteHi Katie,
ReplyDeleteI am so excited for this giveaway.
My mom pretty much got me into sewing, she made most of our clothes when we were kids and it was just such a big part of her life that I wanted to learn as much as I could about it. I took some sewing classes back in the US but when we moved to Germany I lost touch with my creative side. This course would be the perfect opportunity to start making things again. Plus I would have an excuse to spend hours at my favorite fabric store (that I currently still visit even though I don't really sew - does that make me weird?) Anyways, I'd love to have a reason to make time for sewing again and create beautiful things and maybe even a gift for my mum ( I think the apron would be a cute gift to her).
So, thanks :)
SO excited for this! I have sewn a few garments in my time with varying success, but I mainly do little bits and bobs and customise clothes I already have. I am hoping this course would freshen up my skills and give me the confidence to attempt to make a wearable garment from start to finish!
ReplyDeleteI have a small amount of experience with sewing but I don't really know any fundamentals. I'm new to the technical side of things and a sewing machine has recently come into my possession so I would love to learn how to use it correctly! I've played around with it but I want to feel secure that I'm using it in the best way. I would like to know how to sew outfits for my baby twin nieces and I feel like your course would teach me so much and inspire me to no end!
ReplyDeleteI grew up sewing with my mom but didn't continue into adulthood and lost most of my skills. I recently acquired a new, very nice machine for my birthday and would love to take your class and start making some cool things with it!
ReplyDeleteHey, hey, hey! I am so excited for this ecourse!!! I got a sewing machine from my mother-in-law for Christmas a year and a half ago but was never taught to sew by anyone. I've been figuring it out on my own as I go, watching tutorials and what-not. I can do your pretty basic, straight-line sewing, pillows and such. And I use it mostly to alter old and ill-fitting clothes from the depths of my closet or from thrifting. Anyway, I can't wait to use your course! (Also, April 7th is my birthday, winky face emoji.)
ReplyDeleteHi Katie,
ReplyDeleteI am 15 and learned to sew last year and just got a sewing machine recently I know how to make pillows but that is about it. I eventually want to learn to make dresses and tops. I am still a noob to every thing but a simple pilliow. I think your course with instructions and some videos will help me a lot. Thanks for the opportunity to even learn form you guys!
(Maddierymack@gmail.com)
I received a sewing machine for a Christmas present when I was a junior in high-school. I have made a couple projects but that was like 8 years ago. I am very eager to learn sewing but I usually give up about the time I have to use a pattern (I'm not very good at following a pattern). I would love to take this course! I feel like it would help me actually begin my sewing journey!
ReplyDeleteKady
Oh I would absolutely love to win this! I am a somewhat newbie sewer. It started a couples years ago when I really wanted to sew pillow cases for the pillows on our couch (the back cushions don't actually attach to the couch, it's just 12 really large throw pillows). They were dark and drabby and not my taste at all. My sister (a self taught sewer) showed me the bare basics of sewing and hours upon hours later I finished the pillows and LOVED how drastically different the couch looked just with a little helping sewing hands. My husband then bought me my very own sewing machine for christmas that year and I've dabbled here and there with slight alterations on clothing, but I'd LOVE to learn more about how to make my own clothes and bags and such (the right way!). A dream of mine is even to make a quilt some day!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI own a sewing machine and dabbled with it in high school making all kinds of random little projects. The first item of clothing I ever sewed was a basic dress with a scoop next and armholes for my fashion marketing class fashion show lol.
Years later, I am into blogging and my sewing machine has been collecting dust every since. I would love to learn how to properly go about sewing, brush the dust off my machine, and learn some of these fun projects!
Thanks for the oppoutunity!
Christine

I've had my machine for about 5 years and was too intimated to use it until recently when my husband made some cute camping pillows. I thought, "If he can do it, surely I can do it" ;) and I attempted to make some kitchen curtains. They're a little lopsided but it felt so good to make something (mostly) functional. I would love to learn more from two ladies with such great style!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of this sewing e-course! I would say I'm still a sewing newbie, even though I've made a few quilts. Right now I'm working on a Halloween quilt with zombie fabric that I'm working on with my best friend! I haven't really branched out at all and I love your style, so I feel like even if I don't win, I'm going to purchase this e-course for sure!
ReplyDeleteI've only ever sewed really basic things, book covers, hemmed skirts, etc. I'd love to take my sewing to the next level and build a handmade wardrobe. It's one of my goals for 2015!
ReplyDeleteI have really basic sewing knowledge and have made book covers, sewed hems, etc, but I'd love to take my sewing to the next level and build a handmade wardrobe. It's one of my goals for 2015!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a newbie, but not anywhere near a pro. I've sewed a few fairly easy items - zippered pouch, small blanket - but would love to learn more about how to sew my own garments. Not only do I love the possibility of creating one-of-a-kind handmade pieces of clothing, but I also have quite a bit of trouble finding my size in things I love in shops. I toe the line between standard and plus size, and find that standard sizing can tend to be just a bit to small while plus sizes tend to be a bit too big, thus I find myself sadly in the middle with few (and mediocre) wardrobe options. Learning some basics on garment sewing would open up a whole new world of possibilities to fill my closet with cute clothing I can be proud of owning and feel confident in wearing something made just for me!
ReplyDelete(Please forgive if this double posts... I can't tell if my previous entry was accepted so I am posting under a different name and trying that!)
I'm a newbie. I was given an old Singer sewing machine when I was little from my grandma and my mom told me every summer she was going to teach me to see (including last summer). And yet, I still don't know how. I've grown up around it enough to know a lot but using a machine can be so technical and finicky. I want to learn so I can keep making stuff for myself (because, hello! Cute kimonos!) and gifts for others. I once tried making a receiving blanket and realized sewing straight lines isn't that easy. Especially when you don't cut or iron your fabric well :)
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to learn to sew, since I was really young, but it's always seemed so intimidating to me. I finally worked up the courage to take one sewing class a while back, but I've lost everything I learned. I want to sew so I can make clothes for myself and my family, home items like curtains, blankets, etc and I also want to make stuffed toys. I love home made stuffed critters so much and ID love to make more for my kids (and my husband). I feel like this course will help me get to where I need to be skill-wise to do all these things and more!
ReplyDeleteGrowing up, I love to tinker on my mom's sewing machine making doll clothes. A few years ago, my parents gifted me with my own sewing machine. I haven't spent much time with it but I would love to dust it off and get reaquainted. This course would be a lovely excuse :)
ReplyDeleteoooh! would love to win this! one of my resolutions for this year is to sew myself 2 dresses! i'm a total newbie and have taken 1 sewing class at a local store, so i've got some super super basic skills under my belt now. but i would love to learn more about tailoring and making some fun and beautiful new projects. fingers crossed!
ReplyDeleteHi Katie!
ReplyDeleteI am such a huge fan of your blog, you are so incredibly talented! I would love to learn how to sew so I could sew my own clothes.. Especially dresses! Winning this give away would be such an incredible asset to help me on my sewing journey!

I am the ultimate newbie. My mom had four girls and is the ultimate tomboy. My sisters have all picked up sewing skills somewhere and I have been left in the dust. Teach me your sewing ways, oh wise goddesses.
ReplyDeleteI've always dabbled in sewing, but always small projects. I'd love to learn more than pillow cases and curtains!
ReplyDeleteAlicia - apbeatrice@gmail.com
Yeah, what a fun giveaway! All of my sewing skills are self-learned. I have altered some of my own clothes and have sewn little things here and there. I would love to learn how to follow a pattern and how to make something that I am not afraid will fall apart (:
ReplyDeleteI am pretty new to sewing. I have made a few pillows, a clutch, started a quilt, and attempted a top but failed... I have so much to learn still!!!! I want to learn more about sewing clothes. That is the main reseaon I wanted to learn to sew, but I don't really know where to go from here.
ReplyDeleteI learned to see in high school and pretty much just make everything up as i go. I'm currently working on a quilt for the first time but don't know how to use patterns and all my past clothing attempts have been terrible. So I would love to learn more about patterns and your adorable skirts that way I can actually help do more than straight lines for the schools play costumes (where I teach and get asked constantly help!).
ReplyDeleteI've been seeing on and off since I was a little kid. There's always room for improvement though!
ReplyDeleteI started learning a year ago but Ive gotten really into it. I am quickly amassing a collection of vintage patterns (mostly 50's sun dresses) and crazy fabrics. I am still learning how to use patterns correctly, so the e-course would really help!
ReplyDeleteI'm of the I-can-do-anything-I-put-my-mind-to mentality, but I still struggle with sewing when it comes to using a machine--seems it's hit or miss with projects turning out how I plan! As I'm self-taught I'd love a little formal instruction to give me some confidence in using up my small fabric collection...and a productive creative outlet for summertime.
ReplyDeleteCertainly not a newbie, but still ever as eager to learn something new. I love making myself something new to wear, something for the house or my favorite, making gifts for my loves.
ReplyDeleteI used to sew in my childhood as well as in my teens, but it's been years. I miss it and would love to take it up again. It was such a fun hobby and it'd be really nice to have some clothing pieces or home decor items that I made.

The lace kimono looks like a fun project for spring!
ReplyDeleteThis e- course is so cool! Since the age of 8 I started to make clothes for my dolls and cute fabric necklaces for my friends with my moms sewing machine. I loved it so much that I asked for a sewing machine for my 10th birthday while everyone else was asking for cellphones and other cool stuff. I was so happy when I got my sewing machine and started making pillows for my room. I'm now 15 years old and haven't touched my sewing machine for a while... but I would love to get into it again and learn how to make my own clothes :) That would be amazing!
ReplyDeleteHi Katie! I actually started sewing in early middle school but then never continued with it. Recently my grandmother gave me her old sewing machine which still works perfectly and I wanted to start again and make a skirt - but I couldn´t remember anything except the bare basics (how to thread a needle to be exact :-D). So I just saw the ABM Livestream and you saying that making the adorable babydoll dress isn´t that time-consuming totally convinced me to start sewing now!
ReplyDeleteI really have no experience in sewing at all. and I have always dreamed of sewing my own clothes because when I was younger, my mom would sew pretty dresses for me and they are the best! now that my mom has passed away, I did not get to learn sewing from her. it would be very nice to learn sewing from this e-course. thanks katie!
ReplyDeletecheers,

ReplyDeleteMy boyfriend just bought me a fancy new sewing machine for my birthday, and while I have been sewing by hand for years, I realized that I have no idea how to use this high tech gadget! I would love a refresher course on using a sewing machine, so that I can put his wonderful gift to good use.
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother taught me how to sew, and she let me run wild with creative projects. I loved history, so one summer in elementary school I decided to make a rag doll, complete with a range of historical dresses. My favorite was "The Fancy Yellow," a yellow and pink calico with a hoop skirt made from an embroidery hoop and some wire. That one won me second place at the county fair. Since then, I've found that my creativity grows, but my skill set can't keep up with the demands. It would be great to take this ecourse, to shine up my tarnished talent. Maybe I'll finally be able to clothe myself with as much care as I've clothed my rag doll.
ReplyDeleteI have sewed on and off for the last 10 years. My sister is the expert really, her designs are amazing. I would love to show my own unique style through sewing and bring out my personality in my clothes. I just need the motivation and guidance to get me there.

I'm a newbie with a fancy (intimidating) sewing machine.
ReplyDeleteHi Katie! I've always loved being creative and took Textiles for a GCSE in secondary school but recently I feel like I haven't had the time to indulge my creative side! I've recently been hooked to The Great British Sewing Bee - I'm from the UK and the fourth season has just finished and it's really inspired me to get back into sewing! In the past I've made cushions and a couple of bags, but I'd love to make something I can actually wear! I'm always on the look out for cute patterns and my Grandma has even dug out some old patterns she used to use in the 70s for me! I'd love love love to be able to use them and think the e-course you and Rachel have created would help to give me the confidence to have a go! This year my wonderful parents bought me a sewing machine for my birthday and I'm determined to make at least a couple of items for my wardrobe before the end of the year! I've been an avid reader of ABM for years which has also led me to be a fond reader of your blog and both of your sites have always kept me inspired and encouraged me to be creative! Best wishes from across the pond! Hannah xx (@HannahMabel on Twitter)
ReplyDeleteBeyond sewing newbie but still pretty newbie status. my grandma helped me sew my senior ball dress and I'm in the process of attempting a quilt by googling all the things i don't know. Loved the live streaming of the introduction of the course! <3
ReplyDeleteshelby.l.mosel@gmail.com
I've been pretty obsessed with reading sewing blogs for the past couple years, but am still astonishingly new to doing any sewing myself, and I would love to have a great comprehensive intro to sewing my own clothes, which is what I am most interested in (though home decor sounds fun too!). Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI have very little experience. I can count the number of times I've made something on the sewing machine on one hand :). I have hopes and dreams of learning to sew pillow cases and skirts ;)
ReplyDeletekellyabunn@gmail.com
I'd say that I'm definitely a newbie. One time I tried to sew me a pair of sweater mittens....they turned out looking like long skinny fish. Ha! I was so proud of them though. Now I'm just kinda embarrassed by them. It would be fun to actually learn how to use the sewing machine and not just sit there staring at it and the pretend I know what I'm doing. :) morganredvelvet@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI sewed a little by hand and machine in my childhood, and started doing some real projects a few years ago. I am pretty comfortable once I get going, but without really good patters/instructions I tend to get side-tracked, distracted and make little (or big!) mistakes. All that to say, I am also very proficient in use of the seam ripper! My next sewing goals are to create my own patterns, and get comfortable with seeing the big picture of my projects, not just step by little step. Thanks to you and Rachel for your hard work and sharing you talents.
ReplyDelete-Teri S., stopteri@gmail.com
Hi Katie, I began sewing in middle school. Would love to get back I to it :)
ReplyDeletePat (pugkin1@gmail.com)
I'm a newbie! My mom always tried to get me to sew when I was younger, and now that I've finally caught the bug she complains that I pester her with questions. I'm mostly doing repairs to clothing right now, with little projects here and there. What I really want to do is learn how to alter older clothing to be more modern and start sewing patterns. It all seems so complicated though, which is why I'd love to use your ecourse!

ReplyDeleteI began sewing at a very young age, cross stitching and quilting with my grandma. Later I took sewing projects with my community 4-H group and made my prom dresses in high school. Sewing holds a very special place in my heart with lots of memories. Today I enjoy sewing for my 2 month old babe and for my friends and family :) s.flood@live.com
ReplyDeleteI'm currently a sewing newbie with piles of clothes to alter. I dropped a couple of sizes recently and don't want to say goodbye to my favorite pieces. I hand sew most projects, like the plushies I make. However, handstitching those alterations doesn't seem like a long lasting fix. I have a sewing machine my parents bought for me. But I dare not touch my pile for fear I will feed it to the machine and make a ginormous mess!!! Also, I have curtains to shorten from the top, since the detailing at the bottom is what I love, the no sew option won't help me. Normally, all my sewing needs, I take to my best friend and we gossip and catch up on life as she sews with whimsical speed, but I would love to become more self sufficient and DIY. I would love to learn from you talented ladies. Teach me your ways, please. 💕💕💕
ReplyDeleteOoo how exciting! I've been seeing for a couple of years now (self taught) but recently got a new sewing machine and experiencing a bit of sewing performance anxiety! My old machine was technically a kids machine so expectations are a bit high with this new machine haha. Also planning on sewing my wedding dress for my wedding in August so a sewing course would def be helpful!
ReplyDeleteI started sewing as another creative/DIY experiment and I fell in love with the versatility of the activity. Also, it's something I can enjoy and learn of my mom, she started attending pattern classes 6 years ago, when my dad passed away and becomed one of her favorite hobbies, we made a good team (I usually have some ideas and she actually knows how to make them reality <3) this e-course would be a motivation to make new things!
ReplyDeleteI'm a complete noob when it comes to sewing but have always found the idea of being able to build your own wardrobe from nothing or giving new life to old objects very appealing. I've always loved your creations but have no idea where to start, thanks for posting this giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI own a sewing machine (I got it three years ago as a Christmas present) but have very little idea how to use it and I find it does intimidate me a bit. It would be amazing if I could learn how to use it, there are so many clothes I need to alter that it would help me so much to know how to use it and even better to make something from scratch.

Thank you for this incredible giveaway! I took a sewing class in high school where I made a dress that was too small for me, and I spent a week at my grandma's where we sewed tote bags and a tank top together. It's been 7 years since I've touched a sewing machine, but all the creative sewing ladies online have made me crave a handmade wardrobe. I want to make everything from dresses to shorts, to curtains to pillows.
ReplyDeleteeka0022@yahoo.com
I used to sew dresses for my dolls with my grandma and when I got older, we started sewing dresses for me. Then I moved away and tried to keep up sewing but quickly noticed that I'm missing a lot of my grandma's knowledge. Whenever I'm home we try to make time for sewing advice but I haven't really gotten back into sewing as much as I'd like to. Maybe this e-course would help me with it :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the lovely giveaway!
juliaredder@gmail.com
I have moderate sewing experience, but as I am self-taught I have some holes in the technique department ;)
ReplyDeleteGrowing up I had a few different friends I would get together and sew with. Hand-sewn teddy bears and clothes to doll clothes to machine sewing pajama pants from a pattern and various stuffed animal creatures. I remember always having fun even through the frustration that came with using an old machine that jammed easily.
Last year for my birthday I received a new sewing machine from my parents! I'm wanting to get back into the groove of sewing and learn some more tips and techniques through fun new projects!
Thank for the opportunity to win & congrats on the e-course launch!
Hello! I've been so excited about this e-course, so this giveaway is amazing! My sewing story began when my mom told me about the quilts her grandma (the one I'm named after) made for family members and it made me want to be the grandma that shares quilts and stories in the future. I've just been teaching myself, but an e-course would help me improve greatly! Thanks for the chance to win!

Hi Katie, I was so excited to see that you do this e-course. What a wonderful idea. My grandmother was a seamstress and she taught me a little bit when I was small, but she got Alzheimer's before she could teach me the big stuff like sewing clothes. So, now I can sew a little bit but I would love to learn more and do the Kimono, which looks amazing.

I actually took a sewing class in middle school, but haven't done much since. In college I did a few personal projects here and there on my moms machine, and then a few years ago I bought myself a machine, but it has mostly sat untouched since I got it. It makes me sad not to use it, but I don't feel super comfortable with it yet and think I just need a little inspiration. This would be the prefect thing!! Meagan - meagan_h_04@hotmail.com
ReplyDeleteI don't know if my other comment went through, I apologize if it did and I can't see it. My first taste of sewing was when I was around 8. My grandma would give me two pieces of fabric and I would stitch together 3 sides to make pockets. I ended up giving them to my grandpa because I guess I thought he needed them. I'm saving up for a new sewing machine that I can hopefully use once we're able to move into our new home!
ReplyDeleteI grew up around my Nana who makes the most beautiful quilts and my mother who knew her way around her machine which resulted in me being one of those teenagers who gave sewing an attempt but not learning skills rather just gung-ho into trying to put together skirts and dresses that might actually be ware-able! I'd love to finally learn actual skills and techniques to create pretty things. I have been reading both skunkboy and smile and wave for a long time and have always been in awe of the creative skills you both have.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on writing such a fab course! xx
I used to be creative. My mom passed away 6 yrs ago and I just haven't been the same, so my family and creative bone has been put on hold. I would love to jump start my life to what I use to know and be. My daughter needs my creative soul back. Love both of your styles. thanks so much. Wanda Miller 93miller@monsterbroadband.com
ReplyDeleteAh! I don't think my comment posted from last week. I've been dying to learn how to sew and would love to do this e-course! My mom always sewed our costumes and Raggedy Ann dolls growing up, but she never taught me, and now we live across the country from one another. samanthaleeATutexasDOTedu
ReplyDeleteSewing has been part of my life for as long as i can remember. My mom has been sewing for so long and she encouraged her best friend to get into it and now she's making the most amazing dresses! I've been thinking of getting more serious about this, i know just the basic stuff so your ecourse would help me a lot! forghiciandreea@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI started sewing this year. Without any specific reason and sometimes I think you were the responsible for start this desire on me. So, someday I woke up with an inexplicable desire to learn this antique art.
ReplyDeleteMy sewing machine became my best friend and my super complicated friend. But is that kind of friend that we don’t give up, ever.
I’m doing my best to learn by myself and when I finish a project this make my day! Sewing became my joy. One of my joys. And if I win this giveaway you would make my month! My year!
Anyway, congratulations for the e-course and I can bet it’s amazing! Xo, Deborah – deborah.andradedemoraes@gmail.com
I learned to sew when I was ten, making simple baby quilts with my mom. I sew all the time for crafts and simple clothing alterations but I'd love to learn some proper techniques! Also, today is my birthday and this would just make my day ha! Love you ladies and all you do *hearts* >> Callie DM: @calliemacdesigns
