Weekly Wears: Back To School
Oh, back to school. I'm not going back to school, but we have started up with home school again here in the Skunkboy house. It's always a little tricky finding a rhythm when we first get going again, but all-in-all, I think it's going to be a good year. I'll do a post on our home school schedule and curriculum soon. Last year we learned a lot about what works for us and what doesn't, though for some reason I didn't talk much about home school on the blog. Sometimes you just feel inspired to share and sometimes you don't, ya know?

Perfect back to school outfit! So lovely and cute that I immediately wish I would go to school again ... to have a reason to wear it :)

Love this! Those sunglasses are awesome. I'm always curious to see how moms handle home schooling, especially in non traditional ways.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know you guys homeschooled! I went back and read a couple of your posts on it just now, and I really appreciate your reasons for doing so and general perception about the whole thing. Some kids do really thrive in public school, while others really don't. Most of my friends who were homeschooled are kind of weirdos, but I suspect they would have been that way no matter their schooling, haha. (I use the term weirdo affectionately, of course.)

You look so cute in this blue dress! I love the color paired with your hair. That yellow bag contrasts so nicely with it too. I hope you guys get in the back to school rhythm soon!

Aw cute! That's an adorable back-to-school dress, even if you're not actually going back to school!
ReplyDeleteThat is a top and skirt? Wow... they match perfectly! I thought for sure that is was a lovely dress. I really like the color of both and the details of the top. I was homeschooled. If I had the choice to go back and go to public school, I still would have chosen to homeschool. Good luck with the school year! Have a lovely day!

First off this outfit is so adorable!
ReplyDeleteI went back and ready your reasons for home schooling and a few of the posts, and I just want to say good for you! I was home schooled all the way through high school and it was the best thing in the world for me, I learned far more then I would have in public school, it helped me to be unique and not afraid of being different, I was able to let my creativity shine, and so many other wonderful things. Yes there are some down sides to it, and it can be very hard, but it's worth it.
As I'm sure you figured out you get lots of interesting comments from people about it, and just so you know those never stop. I've been done with school for a few years now and even still I get the comments, "What a sad life you must have had!" No more sad then any other kid, in fact I had a very happy life. "You weren't properly socialized, you'll never be able to make it in the real world." I've lived in the real world for the last 20 years and I am fine, and *gasp* I have better people skills then most people my age! "You must not have gotten a very good education." Oh no I really didn't, I was just doing college level reading when I was 10, and I can actually tell you in detail about historic events, nope I didn't get a good education at all.
So my point is, yes being home schooled is a challenge, for both the parent and the child. But in the long run it's the best thing in the world. I've known plenty of the 'weird' home schoolers, and plenty of the 'normal' ones (trust me there is no such thing as a normal home schooler, but you know what I mean), and you know what, they all love it and most wouldn't change a thing about it.
So like I said, good for you for doing this for your kids, they will appreciate more then you can imagine.

That pleated skirt is just really lovely.
ReplyDeleteSo is your hair, which I realize isn't techinically part of the outfit.
Or maybe it is?
But anyway. Lovely.
Lovely outfit xo

Love this outfit! I thought it was just a dress, but the two piece combination is a nice surprise! Good luck with homeschooling this year, I'm a teacher and know how difficult times can get.
