I had another post planned for today, but then my ol' trusty
glitter flats broke and I fell into a deep sea of sad shoe shopping. I'm sure I could find another pair, but usually I figure it's good to let a favorite pair of shoes run their course and then be done. Otherwise I'd become that person who wears the same pair of shoes for 10+ years. And really, who wants that?

How do you deal when you wear out a favorite pair of shoes? Do you (sadly) let go like me, or do you search eBay and Zappos for an exact replacement? I wanna know!
So sad! But I agree that when your favorite shoes break you gotta let 'em go. You'll find a new even better pair to wear to death...don't you worry!
ReplyDeleteI love #2 and I just let them go. -Hanna Lei
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely the same, when an awesome pair of shoes breaks, I usually find something a little different to fall in love with!

I understand the feeling Katie! I once cried after my baby cat ruined a pair of ballerina that i cherished for year (and were still in excellent condition!) and i've looked for a similar pair for months but never found one... Now i think i would just move on and consider it the excuse to search and buy a new pair...always an excuse and that one is to add to the list! ;)

It depends, If my toms wore out I'd replace them with another pair of toms, maybe a different color, but still toms because of the whole do good thing, but if my favorite Sam Edelman Ballet Flats wore out, I'd get a different pair of Ballet flats, because even though I love those, if I only ever replaced shoes I loved with the same things then so many other shoes would go unloved.

I always look for the exact same style but if I can't find it, I branch out and try something new (but they have to kind of look like the old pair!)
ReplyDeleteI usually look for something new, which is sad, but also very exciting! Haha. My style is constantly changing. :)
ReplyDeleteI have the exact same glitter flats and they are on their last leg. I wear them with everything. Normally I would just let them go but these have my heart. I can't let go. </3 Haha.
ReplyDeletedepends - I've done both! on a side note, I have #3 in pink with a silver toe and they are one of my favorite pairs of ever.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way! When a pair breaks, it's time to let go and find an upgraded and better replacement!
ReplyDeleteI look for something similar to the old pair! However in the end I usually find a couple of new favorites and I forget about my old ones haha.

Definitely a situational decision. But if they're comfortable, durable, practical, and (most importantly) stylish, I'll scour high + low to replace them. But generally, I'll just stick to the brands that have proven themselves.

I usually figure when they break it's time for a different style since I love more shoes in the world than I'll ever be fortunate enough to own. Have you ever tried DIY glitter shoes? I did it years ago and it was super simple and super fun. If you take a fabric shoe (non shiny for better hold) you can modge podge the glitter on (coarser glitter works better) and then spray them with waterproof sealant. It's fun and you get a pair of truly unique shoes!

oh man! that stinks. When my favorite pair give out I get an updated version, I live in sneakers I have to be comfortable so my summer sandals and winter boots are more of my fashion statement :)
ReplyDeleteonce I decide I'm in love with a pair of shoes, I go back and buy them in more colours while I still can. I am totally that person who wears the same shoes for ten years!

ReplyDeleteI hate that feeling! Although, I am that person that just sadly moves on because what else is there to do?

I always search high and low for the closest replacement I can find. As a result, I am totally that person with the same (similar) pair of shoes for 10+ years! Haha!
ReplyDeleteThe watermelon pair are pefect for the summer with a simple outfit like shorts and a white t-shirt! love this!

I love shoes. I have a lot of them, but somehow always end up in the same 2 or 3 pairs. My favorite leather lace ups are about to reach "the end", but I am leaning towards having them resoled...yes the entire sole. Worn in shoes are sometimes too good to give up on :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck in your search,
Alyssa
I usually buy a replacement pair because I'm boring and I also get so overwhelmed with shoe choices -- how do you choose?? Love your picks though.
ReplyDeleteOhh loving #7!
ReplyDeleteI love all of these exept first and sixth - I would never pull them off haha!
