Decorating for Christmas

We pulled out all the Christmas decorations this weekend!  It's a little late for us, but honestly, I've been dreading that mess that comes with getting all the boxes out and getting everything in place.  It usually takes a few days to find a home for everything and get those boxes back downstairs.

I've been laughing extra hard at Facebook lately, because every time I pop over there, someone else is ranting about when it is or is not okay to put up Christmas decorations.  Here is when it is okay:  WHEN YOU WANT TO.  Do want you want.  It's your house, your family, your traditions.  People are crazy/hilarious on Facebook, right??!!  There's always some really dramatic thing happening.  ;)

What did you do this weekend?  It's snowing here today, and though I may not feel ready for it, it sure is pretty!  Happy Monday!

  1. We decorated this weekend as well! I love setting up in November because it makes the season feel like it lasts longer. Once December hits, it's Christmas day before you know it and then it's all over.

  3. Your tree is just so lovely Katie! When you put your decorations up is a personal thing, I know if it was up to me we'd already have ours up or be in the process of putting them up! Decorating the house just gets everyone into that festive spirit! x

  7. besides, thanksgiving is a week later than it normally is, so last year our trees were already up, so were ALL behind.

And yes, decorate when you want! I've always decorated the weekend after Thanksgiving, but this year is a little different, so I'm doing it when it best for me! (Or when I finish my decorations...)

  19. So cute! I love that your girls have a winter wonderland they can play with. I normally try to wait til the day after Thanksgiving, but it was snowing here this weekend too! I convinced my husband we had to put up the tree and lights yesterday while it snowed, but I agreed to wait to put decorations on until Friday since he wanted to. :-p I love having hot cocoa or cider, listening to Christmas music, and decorating. That's when I really feel the holiday season has kicked off!

  25. New reader here, love your posts! I'm with ya on the decorations, I could've been fine putting them up on Halloween. However, my husband has forbidden all things Christmas until Thanksgiving. It's all I can do to keep from opening that christmas tree box! :) Soon.

  36. Oh gosh, thank you! I didn't realize that it was a "thing" for people to rant about when others put up Xmas decorations. Seriously, when did it become such a big deal?!? As soon as Halloween is over, I start decorating! We still celebrate Thanksgiving, but as someone put it, we put up decorations what some people say is early just so the season feels like it lasts longer and what's so wrong about that?:)

    ReplyDelete
  37. Poe's antlers are too cute! Christmas should be celebrated when an individual wants to. I prefer to wait until after Thanksgiving to really get in to the Christmas spirit, but that's just me, and I love my early Christmas celebrating friends.

  40. I totally agree about crazy people on facebook. I used to be one of those people who couldn't handle anything Christmas until December 15th. But this is the first year being in my own apartment, and Christmas came a little earlier this year. I'm just as suprised as anyone else! People's opinions can always change.
