I just got lost for about 2 hours looking through photos on my blog-- going back and back and back, looking at all of the memories from the past year. There was definitely a rush of emotions, but the thing I took away more than anything is my appreciation for the mini time capsule this blog has become. Documenting little moments from the past year hasn't just been about pretty pictures or an attempt to portray a "perfect life", but to remember that even in transitional times, hard times, easy times: life really is beautiful. It may not always be simple or smooth, but it is good and I always want to appreciate that.

One Whole Year
It's officially been a whole year since we moved to this town and into this house. We've gone from the chaos of moving, to slowly making our house a home that feels like "us", to creating routines, to just being comfortable and confident that we are, indeed, where we are supposed to be.
It's been an amazing year. Nothing is ever completely perfect-- that's not life-- but I feel like this year has been one of the best years for our family. There has been much love and growth. Thanks for reading, friends. :)

Such great photos. You're so right about blogs being a "time capsule." Love it. Glad you're loving your home! :)
ReplyDeleteYour house is gorgeous and it looks like all of your hard work has paid off. I love that you've labelled blogs a time capsule, I'm gonna call them that from now on too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful sentiment and reminder.

ReplyDeleteI love this and the whole idea of a blog as a time capsule. I just got married (as in less than two weeks ago) and I am going through this whole process with my husband. I'm excited to see where it leads. I love reading your blog and seeing the ways in which your family's lives have changed and stayed the same.
ReplyDeleteI love your house. I need to finish decorating ours! We moved in a few months ago
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder that life, while sometimes messy and stressful, really is something to enjoy and be thankful for.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet and lovely post. Life certainly isn't perfect. It can be tumultuous, and trying. And it can also be relatively uneventful at times. But through it all, it is beautiful. I love blogs for this exact reason. Life is beautiful and it deserves documentation and reflection. Through all the ups and downs you have these images and stories to revisit. And that is most certainly priceless.
ReplyDeleteYour house looks so wonderful!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite post so far Katie. So lovely. Not always simple and smooth but good, I love that!

ReplyDeleteThe life is like mountains. Up and down, up and down.... But when the time comes to remember old memories, those photo makes us smile. That's why I like to see old photos.
ReplyDeleteYou have a beautiful family! And it's so true: "nothing is ever completely perfect – that's not life". Thanks for sharing these thoughts! I love the idea of a blog as a tiny time capsule :)
ReplyDeleteThis is pretty much the main reason I continue to blog- the whole time capsule thing. I don't share as many personal photos as some others, but reading back over the little stories always gives me a smile x
ReplyDeleteI love looking through old photos that were taken in my home. Sometimes you have this long list of things you want to change, fix, upgrade, add to, etc. and when you look back at these, you realize you've come a long way already. It's very satisfying. I love witnessing you and the whole fam =) You guys are so cute! Thanks for the sweet post <3 xo Annejelina
