Get It Out

One night last week when our family was feeling a little frazzled, we stopped the car and decided to get it out.  It was exactly what we needed to just forget of all the STUFF that was under our skin and have a good time skipping and running and just letting go.  It was ALMOST windy enough for kites, so I grabbed the kites from home and we flew them until sundown.

It took Poesy a few tries to get her kite going.  It wasn't quite windy enough to keep them in the air, so the girls would run to keep them flying.  Poesy would shout, "It's working, it's working!!" and then stop to turn around and see it in the air.  Of course, the kite would then come soaring down and we'd start all over again.  Hope was pretty much ace when it came to keeping hers in the air... because she's ace.

Days like these are good for the soul.  It's true that no one's kids are perfect, nobody's life is stress free, everyone has tiffs with their spouse, etc, but it's these kinds of moments that make that other stuff disappear.  :)

Goodbye, Google Reader

As you may have already heard, Google reader is shutting down on Monday.  If you're looking for a new way to keep track of your blogs, I highly recommend Bloglovin.  I personally use it and love it.  If you are looking for something a little more similar to the old reader, I've heard Feedly is a good substitute and they have a 1-click Google reader import.  Whatever you decide, I hope you find something you like.  :)

Farewell to our old friend, Google reader!

Etsy Love

I've pretty much become a Leah Goren fangirl at this point, but I don't care.  I'm definitely loving this cat print tank.

I'm totally smitten with this clear satchel from Golden Ponies.

This cactus tea towel by Leah Duncan is sooooooo darling.

I'm always on the hunt for notecards because I'm always running out!  These fox notecards from Paper Sparrow are too cute.

I've been eyeing these banners by Paper Nurse for some time.  They are so sweet.

Happy Friday, friends!

Out To Work

This drippy snowcone guy really knows what's what.  That's basically what you feel like when you decide you are going to out and plant some flowers out in the heat of the day... in the summer... in Missouri.  I was outside for, like, 5 minutes and decided that's a task for dusk.  Lesson learned.  Duh.  I did pick up some beautiful daisies, though, and I was excited to get them in the ground.  They are going to be so lovely!

Shirt: Culture Flock Clothing;  Shorts (yes, they're shorts!): c/o ModCloth;  Shoes: BC Shoes;  Glasses: c/o BonLook

This is an outfit I threw on to go OUT to work this week.  You can find my other Out To Work outfits here.

Snapshots

Poesy's new big girl bed-- the first few nights were great, but she has figured out that she can get up at any point in the night and climb into mommy and daddy's bed //  Garden green pepper vs. red pepper... I'm not so sure if we are really going to yield any red peppers or if they will all end up being green //  Cute display in one of our favorite shops: Funtiques //  The girls making soup //  The new (to me) accordion that my father-in-law picked up.  It needs a tiny bit of work, but I'm in love with it.

I hope you are having a great week so far!  My week seems to just be starting, so it's time to power down and get some real work done!  Happy Wednesday!

Weekly Wears: In The Summertime

Dress: Dear Creatures (last season-- similar one here);  Shoes: c/o Emerging Thoughts

The days have really warmed up here in Missouri as it's officially turned to summer.  I love sitting outside and eating popsicles as they drip down the stick and onto our hands.  The girls are really into filling a bucket and having soaking sponge fights with ice cold hose water.  Johnny's favorite is sitting on the porch swing in the evening with a cold New Castle in his hand as the girls chase lightning bugs.  I'm again reminded that there is a lot to be thankful for as we enjoy all of our warm weather traditions.  Hello, summer.  :)

Skunkboy on Film

This weekend Chris Wiegand came by for a couple of days to interview me and hang out with my family for his American Blogger documentary.  I'm not great at new people, interviews, pretending to be interesting, etc, but it was a fun experience (once I conquered my nerves) and Chris was really great.  :)  I'm excited to see all the other people he will be stopping by to chat with.  Plus, we got to tour the inside of his airstream and OH BOY, I want one.

After he left we went back to normal life where we garden and watch movies and take walks and get ice cream and hang out with friends... normal never felt so good.  I LOVE NORMAL.  ;)

**My gingham dress is from Exile Vintage.  :)
