Happy Record Store Day... yesterday. This is our first one living in a town with an actual record store. We visited, I bought some records (2 that I already have in the ol' iPod, but hey, I have to get them on vinyl eventually), and it was a good day. :)
How about you? Did you participate in Record Store Day? I love any excuse to buy new (or old) records.
I really wish I had gone to get some records! I'm going to put it on my to-do list. :) x
ReplyDeleteps. Thought I would say I've loved your blog for ages, you have amazing diys, fashion posts, and food ones too! Your blog is one of my top favorites. x

I picked up The Beatles White Album and an LCD Soundsystem one... both for a total of $20!
ReplyDeleteWe celebrated here in Somerset, England, and got to our local store just after 7am to pick up the releases we wanted. Such a great atmosphere :) I blogged about it too if you'd like to read :)

I love Record Store day! I unfortunately didn't have time to participate.
ReplyDeletei went to a couple. both were sold out of the new foals, but oddly enough, i found the rsd release on amazon and snatched the last copy! i also picked up cults, jt's futuresexlovesounds, and the 1st strokes album. you're right, any excuse to buy records is a good one. i also pre-ordered eisley's new album earlier this week. cannot wait for that one!
ReplyDeleteAh! Katie! I need your tee! love it.
ReplyDeleteOhmygoodness. Record store day? What? Why didn't anybody tell me about this. lol. Cool beans, I guess I'll have to participate next year... But yes, I love buying eecord at my local store downtown! Nothin like vinyl ^_^ xo Melanie http://www.thehalfginger.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI didn't even know there is something like record store day, although if I buy music I buy vinyl. And I totally agree, having something on the i-pod doesn't mean you don't need it on vinyl. It's just not the same.
ReplyDeleteSo pleased to see you support Record Store Day, Katie! :)
ReplyDeleteWe celebrated good, here in the Yorkshire, UK too! Lovely day spent with friends buying music and relaxing together in the afternoon listening to our new goodies!

I got the 'Kentucky' 7" by Jake Bugg released just for the occasion and the re-release of Tame Impala's first EP. I was a very happy buyer! I see you got the Portishead record - a friend of mine didn't have such luck!
ReplyDeleteBoyfriend is crazy about vinyls and I had to start incorporating them into our house's style.. ;)
ReplyDeleteYes I participated this year for the first time here in Liverpool. Laid my hands on a Pulp remix by Soulwax, good stuff ;) I didn't know Alberta Cross so I've checked some songs and I like it! Thanks for the discovery :)
ReplyDeleteI went! I was really hoping to get Mumford & Sons' limited EP they released specifically for Record Store Day (called Live at Bull Moose), but missed out :( I did get their album Babel though (which I too have on iPod already). I probably would have bought more, but I'm on limited funds at the moment. It's so great to support a local business though! Our record store actually had a free concert at the downtown cemetery too, but I didn't get a chance to go.
ReplyDeleteI went! Unfortunately, my local record store doesn't sell new albums on vinyl. So I didn't get to get any of the limited edition ones that come out special for Recordstore day. But I still am IN LOVE with old records! So I searched through and found Simon and Garfunkel, Bridge Over Troubled Water and picked it up! It was a good day. (:
ReplyDeleteWhat is this!? I've never heard of Record Store Day in Australia, but if it was a thing I would DEFINATELY participate! There's something special about vinyl.

it happens in Australia! It was raining so hard that hubs went on his own this year :(
DeleteI actually got records the day before record store day! But even still, I enjoyed it and got some great ones!
ReplyDeleteDamn, I totally missed out on this day!
ReplyDeleteIt does happen in Australia, just keep an eye out next year to see what stores participate, I think there was even a page on facebook. Sadly is was so wet I stayed home with the little kids while hubby got to go out and check out things!

We celebrated Record Store Day too - we were so excited that our small local store had gotten in a few of the special releases. We walked away with the Mad Season release and then a few other's we had been interested in getting our hands on for sometime.
ReplyDeleteOur store had live music and locally made ice cream it was a great treat.
Katie I love your sunnies! Where are they from?
ReplyDeleteYou look darling, as always!! Please tell me those are foxes on your tee! Didn't participate in record day. (Don't have a record player, yet!) Where is your top from, love?
ReplyDeleteYay! I was down in Houston for Record Store Day, and found a cool shop...bought London Calling on vinyl :)
ReplyDeleteOooh record stores are so fun!
ReplyDeleteI went and snatched up Billy Bragg's and Phoenix's RSD special releases from my local record shop. I was a bit bummed that I missed out on the Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds one, though. I also bought a Joy Division album and Depeche Mode's latest release. Got to listen to some great local music while I shopped, too.
ReplyDeleteLove Record Store Day!
i did not.. Somehow i'm never aware whenever it's something-day. at the end of the day I go "wait it was what-day?"
