Hi, guys! This
is Hope! I recently had my first
gymnastics competition. I have
been training for months and looking forward to my first meet!
When I got there, I was very nervous before they called my
name. Of course, my first event
was balance beam. My legs were all
shaky! I ended up falling off
twice.
My next event was floor and I did much better. My legs stopped shaking and I felt a lot
better. My floor routine was
pretty good and I got to do vault next.
I love floor AND vault! I
took 1st place in my age division on vault! I was SO EXCITED!!!
The last event was bars. I got really nervous again because I hurt myself a little
while back on the bars. I told my
teacher I didn’t need her to spot me and I went for it. I got 2nd place in my age
division on bars! I even got my
stride circle without any help! My family was all there to watch me and cheer for me.
When they were announcing names for the trophies I had no
idea I had done so well. Here are
all my events:
Vault: 1st place
Bars: 2nd place
Floor: 3rd place
Beam: 6th place
All-Around: 3rd place
When my next meet gets here I feel like I can do even
better. Hopefully my legs won’t be
so shaky! MAYBE I will even win another trophy. Fingers crossed! Thanks for reading! xoxo Hope
Is this the cutest post, or what?! Congratulations to Hope!!

ReplyDeleteCongrats Hope! This is my favorite post EVER! :) Keep us updated! xxx
ReplyDeleteWow, very impressive, Hope! Congratulations. I was always too scared to do vault, when I got to competiton I pretended I was sick so I didn't have to do it ;-)
ReplyDeleteHope,
ReplyDeleteI was a gymnast for 16 years of my life and it was probably one of the best experiences I have had. I learned so much about myself: how to challenge myself, and how to manage my time. I still remember my first meet so clearly. I definitely can relate to the shaky legs! But, don't worry, competition does get easier! I feel like gymnasts share this special bond. It's not a very common sport to stick with and everyone that does just has this special connection. Vault was always my favorite and best event too :) What level are you competing at this year? It's so neat to see you start down a path that meant so much to me. It's really encouraging to see that girls are still enjoying something that was so important in my life. Keep us posted!
Jess
Congrats Hope!
ReplyDeleteWhere there's a will there's a way. You earned it, Hope. Congrats. Family support is very important. Love them.

ReplyDeleteWell it sounds like you rocked your first competition!
ReplyDeleteI didn't do many sports growing up, but I did play the violin so I guess the equivalent for me when I was your age would have been the recitals I had to play once or twice a year. I didn't always do so great - I got the shaky legs as well ; )
But those recitals helped me grow as a violinist and as a person.
Looking forward to more posts from you, Hope!
-JoAnna
Well done Hope - that's fantastic! Keep up the hard work :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Hope! I bet your family is so proud of you!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Hope. I do gymnastics too, it's so fun.
ReplyDeleteI've had a few comps and I feel nervous at the start of it but with my family by my side I could do it at the end.
Our comps are in groups and the last one a went to our group won!! We got a medal though.
Keep up the good work!
Emma
Congratulations Hope! As a former cheerleader that can barely do a cart wheel, I have a lot of admiration for gymnasts! Keep up the good work!
