This Is Halloween...

We had a really great Halloween!  Our neighborhood is amazing and gets together for a Halloween parade before trick-or-treating kicks off.  It's so fun being surrounded by the massive amounts of clever-costumed children.  Some of our favorites included a rubix cube, a little Rapunzel with a prince (Ken doll) hanging from her hair, a baby Beethoven, Tweedle-Dee & Tweedle-Dum, and the most precious octopus baby.

It took Poe a while to get the hang of the trick-or-treating.  She really couldn't understand why people were putting things in her bucket and why she couldn't just stop and eat all of the candy right away.  By the end of the night she really got it, and when we got home she was literally making snow angels in her large pile of candy.

Poesy's costume was about the easiest thing ever.  We got her some Mickey ears when we were in Walt Disney World earlier this year.  The rest of the costume was black tights, cut-off red sweat pants with two white buttons stitched on, a black l/s shirt from her wardrobe, some child-size white gloves, and some big kid white socks pulled over her shoes.

Hope's costume was a wig and a pre-packaged Wednesday costume that needed a bit of modification.  Seriously, the dress looked so much like a pilgrim costume and I wouldn't be at all surprised if I saw the same dress in different packaging.  I changed the shape of the collar and trimmed the cuffs, and then we added black tights and black Wal-Mart mary janes.  I feel like I got off easy this year.  I mean, remember last year's costume?  That took a while.

Oh, and just because I know some of you might be curious, my jacket is Free People from Marshall's (last year), my sweater is from Lulu's, my dress is Red Velvet, and my purse is Darling brand from ever+mi.crush.

I hope you all really did have a great Halloween.  Leave me a link in the comments when you post photos of you or your kiddos all dressed up!

    1. Some sort of homemade costume! I believe there was a person inside of the turtle, and he could even retract his head. It was so cool.

  6. That is awesome about your neighborhood. All of those people and in the daylight. It would have been nice to do that here but nothing starts until the sun goes down. We rode around in our golf cart as usual and let the kids run up to the doors. We are a tad lazy!

  14. Your neighborhood really goes all out! It reminds me of all the kids trick or treating in ET :-) We ended up at my sister in laws house and saw maybe ten other kids going door to door. Im used to the massive crowds of kids.

  17. That looks so fun, wow! So many people. It's pretty... dead (hardy har)... around here for Halloween, but your neighborhood looks like it hosts one heck of a great event. Looove the girls' costumes... it's funny you said that about Hope's costume because my mom was Wednesday for Halloween, and when I found her costume at a thrift store, I totally thought it looked just like a pilgrim costume!

  19. So adorable and I am so jealous because halloween seems to be a big thing in your hometown. Here, I am super motivated, handmade costume and all, but no one is there giving candies, it is not like it used to be when I was a little girl, I live in Montreal.
Those children seems so happy and full of joy, it is magical!

    1. Yes, that was the plan. Hope vetoed the Goldilocks and 3 Bears costumes. She didn't want to match. I was definitely a bit disappointed, but I guess I'd better get used to it. ;)

I love how everyone has come out together to celebrate Halloween, a lot of people moan about giving out sweets these days!
Even though that turtle costume is awesome, I feel a bit sorry for them having to crawl around!
