It took Poe a while to get the hang of the trick-or-treating. She really couldn't understand why people were putting things in her bucket and why she couldn't just stop and eat all of the candy right away. By the end of the night she really got it, and when we got home she was literally making snow angels in her large pile of candy.
Poesy's costume was about the easiest thing ever. We got her some Mickey ears when we were in Walt Disney World earlier this year. The rest of the costume was black tights, cut-off red sweat pants with two white buttons stitched on, a black l/s shirt from her wardrobe, some child-size white gloves, and some big kid white socks pulled over her shoes.
Hope's costume was a wig and a pre-packaged Wednesday costume that needed a bit of modification. Seriously, the dress looked so much like a pilgrim costume and I wouldn't be at all surprised if I saw the same dress in different packaging. I changed the shape of the collar and trimmed the cuffs, and then we added black tights and black Wal-Mart mary janes. I feel like I got off easy this year. I mean, remember last year's costume? That took a while.
Oh, and just because I know some of you might be curious, my jacket is Free People from Marshall's (last year), my sweater is from Lulu's, my dress is Red Velvet, and my purse is Darling brand from ever+mi.crush.
I hope you all really did have a great Halloween. Leave me a link in the comments when you post photos of you or your kiddos all dressed up!
Such cute costumes, and that turtle is unbelievable!

ReplyDeleteAww, you guys are so frickin' adorable, I can't stand it! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI shared my nutty costume photos on my blog yesterday! Do your kids watch Adventure Time? http://t.co/KYFbLxxM
Yes, we love Adventure Time! <3
DeletePoe is sooo cute, I can't even..! BUT WHAT IS THAT TURTLE?
ReplyDeleteLove your jacket :)

Some sort of homemade costume! I believe there was a person inside of the turtle, and he could even retract his head. It was so cool.
DeleteThat is awesome about your neighborhood. All of those people and in the daylight. It would have been nice to do that here but nothing starts until the sun goes down. We rode around in our golf cart as usual and let the kids run up to the doors. We are a tad lazy!

Deletesuch cute costumes! I love the Wednesday Addams one, I might have to borrow that idea next year ;) sadly we don't really celebrate halloween in the same way in the UK, its just like any other night of the week :(

Aw. Maybe you should start a new tradition. You could have a party with your friends and make it a grand production!
DeleteOh, but your kid's costumes look great!
ReplyDeleteYour boots are to die for!!!
ReplyDeletei love how all the neighbors get so involved! our neighborhood used to be similar but now all the kids have grown and it's quieted down a lot. the rapunzel outfit sounds darling, with the ken doll hanging to her hair! so creative! lovely pictures.

Your neighborhood really goes all out! It reminds me of all the kids trick or treating in ET :-) We ended up at my sister in laws house and saw maybe ten other kids going door to door. Im used to the massive crowds of kids.
ReplyDeleteYour girls are adorable!!! Also how amazing is that turtle!!
We saw the turtle last night, but were out after dark and did not get a picture, sadly.
ReplyDeleteWasn't it neat? We were lucky to get a picture-- there were kids just swarming it almost the whole time we were over there.
DeleteWait, is there a person in that turtle!? There can't be?
ReplyDeleteThere is! It was completely amazing!
DeleteThat looks so fun, wow! So many people. It's pretty... dead (hardy har)... around here for Halloween, but your neighborhood looks like it hosts one heck of a great event. Looove the girls' costumes... it's funny you said that about Hope's costume because my mom was Wednesday for Halloween, and when I found her costume at a thrift store, I totally thought it looked just like a pilgrim costume!
ReplyDeletewe trick or treated in michael's parents neighborhood, but we should have went down there. looks like a lot of fun! your girls are adorable! i took the easy way out this year, but need to do a handmade costume next year.
ReplyDeleteSo adorable and I am so jealous because halloween seems to be a big thing in your hometown. Here, I am super motivated, handmade costume and all, but no one is there giving candies, it is not like it used to be when I was a little girl, I live in Montreal.
ReplyDeleteThose children seems so happy and full of joy, it is magical!

They look so precious! I think my favorite child's costume last night was a 2 year old dressed as an old school oompa loompa! (green hair and everything!) I just about died!!

ReplyDeletehere's our costumes post: http://blog.kellychristinephoto.com/?p=6117 :)
I have pictures up of our Halloween costumes on my blog. I thought you guys were dressing up as Goldilocks and the three bears? What was that picture from that you posted on IG?
ReplyDeleteYes, that was the plan. Hope vetoed the Goldilocks and 3 Bears costumes. She didn't want to match. I was definitely a bit disappointed, but I guess I'd better get used to it. ;)
DeleteAw they look adorable, did they choose the outfits themselves?
ReplyDeleteI love how everyone has come out together to celebrate Halloween, a lot of people moan about giving out sweets these days!
Even though that turtle costume is awesome, I feel a bit sorry for them having to crawl around!

1. You guys are the cutest:)
ReplyDelete2. That turtle costume is the craziest, most insane, awesome thing I have ever seen!

I really love that your neighborhood still goes all out for Halloween. I didn't get one Trick-or-Treater. Halloween was such a big fun night when I was a kid and I'm glad to see children today still getting the full effect!
ReplyDeleteAdorable girls, I love Halloween, but here is nothing compare to USA, I want to go there and celebrate
ReplyDeleteyou look beautiful.
OMGosh! You're girls are just carbon copies of their Daddy! Both of them gorgeous =)
