That Time We Got Away

Johnny and I really had an excellent weekend last weekend.  We saw friends, ate way too much food, attended an incredible concert, and laughed until our faces hurt.  It's one of those times where you wish you could freeze time and keep those special moments in your pocket for a rainy day.

We stayed downtown at the Sheraton, which was only a block away from Peabody Opera House, the place where we were seeing Fiona Apple.  When we got to town we did a very tiny bit of (rushed) shopping, had dinner and coffee with some friends, and promptly got ready for the show.

Somehow, this is the only picture I got of the two of us from the whole trip... and, as someone so sweetly pointed out on Instagram, I'm looking a little bit pregnant here.  I'm not.  Let's not get that rumor started.  It's just the combination of big dinner/bad posture/tight dress.  Oh boy.  ;)

Fiona Apple was amazing.  It was definitely a show worth seeing, and GEEZ... that girl can sing her heart out.  Gut wrenching in the best possible way.

The next day we had brunch at an adorable cafe on 12th Street and leisurely putzed around town.

It was a good trip, indeed, but there is nothing better than coming home after a couple days away.  :)

  6. I just saw Fiona Apple last night in Kansas City. She was so great! We were sitting in a pretty disrespectful section of audience though, which was a bummer.

    1. That is so unfortunate. It always makes me so sad when people are disrespectful at shows-- everyone has paid to be there, and yet some feel the freedom (lack of common courtesy) to ruin it for others.

  8. Wow that really bothers me. I'm glad I don't have that person on IG as they'd probably think I was preggo everyday seeing as I pretty much only wear oversized tops. How rude of them! You look absolutely LOVELY. I was thinking how great of a photo it is of the two of you...

Anyways, glad you had a lovely time! You have me craving a weekend away with Mikey now. Dying to visit some places nearby, wishing we had a car/our licenses.

  14. Looks like an amazing little vacay!! You guys look adorable, and NOT pregnant. I'm also glad (as with miss teacups) that I dont have that person in IG, as I too would always be mistaken for preggo. It's an effect that some dresses have, and it's usually the cutest dresses, so you deal with it.

Also, I'm incredibly envious over those potatoes from breakfast.

    :)

  26. That 50's diner looks awesome! Looks like a fun time! What is your favorite Fiona song,if you could narrow it down? I don't understand why people say such crazy/immature things on the internet,I guess they have nothing better to do & because they can't say it face-to-face,but I'm glad y'all had a laugh about it! Silly people! :P Have a great Wednesday, lady!

    1. Oh goodness... I don't know! I guess if I had to choose a song that sticks out to me I'd pick "Oh Well", but I'm pretty sure a lot of the songs off the new album have some staying power, too. Plus there's every single song off of When the Pawn... I just don't know! Live she played "I Know" and it was completely moving. How about you? What would be your favorite?

  31. When I saw that picture of the two of you all I thought was "They look so cute together!" and then I read your caption and thought "What? Pregnant?" and then proceeded to look at your belly in the picture trying to figure out why someone would think your pregnant and I couldn't. But anyway, this looks like a great weekend! I've been wanting to see Fiona Apple for a while now!

  32. I can see why someone may say "pregnant looking" but barely, and not really :) I'm glad to see you touched up your roots, for a while the brown roots of your hair were showing a lot. Roots bug me like crazy lol

  33. First off, you don't even look remotely pregnant! Not sure why anyone would say that. I hate the big meal/tight clothes dilemma. Just a few weeks ago I went out for a big breakfast with my hubby and as I was paying at the front counter, an elderly guy asked when I was due. !!! He was very apologetic when I told him I wasn't pregnant but, wow, did that throw me for a loop.
