We stayed downtown at the Sheraton, which was only a block away from Peabody Opera House, the place where we were seeing Fiona Apple. When we got to town we did a very tiny bit of (rushed) shopping, had dinner and coffee with some friends, and promptly got ready for the show.
Somehow, this is the only picture I got of the two of us from the whole trip... and, as someone so sweetly pointed out on Instagram, I'm looking a little bit pregnant here. I'm not. Let's not get that rumor started. It's just the combination of big dinner/bad posture/tight dress. Oh boy. ;)
Fiona Apple was amazing. It was definitely a show worth seeing, and GEEZ... that girl can sing her heart out. Gut wrenching in the best possible way.
The next day we had brunch at an adorable cafe on 12th Street and leisurely putzed around town.
It was a good trip, indeed, but there is nothing better than coming home after a couple days away. :)
That little gingham dress is adorable! It looks like you had a great time. Oh, and I don't think you look pregnant at all!

Aw, you look like you had a lovely time! And that cafe/diner looks incredible-I wish English cafes were like that:-( hehe xo

I just saw Fiona Apple last night in Kansas City. She was so great! We were sitting in a pretty disrespectful section of audience though, which was a bummer.
ReplyDeleteThat is so unfortunate. It always makes me so sad when people are disrespectful at shows-- everyone has paid to be there, and yet some feel the freedom (lack of common courtesy) to ruin it for others.
Deleteaw you two are just too cute! looks like a fun little getaway ;)

Wow that really bothers me. I'm glad I don't have that person on IG as they'd probably think I was preggo everyday seeing as I pretty much only wear oversized tops. How rude of them! You look absolutely LOVELY. I was thinking how great of a photo it is of the two of you...
ReplyDeleteAnyways, glad you had a lovely time! You have me craving a weekend away with Mikey now. Dying to visit some places nearby, wishing we had a car/our licenses.
It's okay- I get that kind of stuff pretty often. We had a good laugh about it. ;)
DeleteYou guys need a weekend soon! It's so good to recharge!
You are so stinkin' cute! What a fun trip! I'm so jealous. We need to get away soo bad! Maybe you've inspired me ;)
ReplyDeletei love the photo of the two of you together, think its is really sweet.
ReplyDeleteand love the gingham dress, so pretty.
The photo of the two of you is adorable! I have no idea what the nameless person was talking about! And that retro diner... how could you avoid such a cozy place with comfort food! The photos are all lovely! Where is that black dress from? It's so cute!
ReplyDeletehowidwellnow.com
The black dress is from Lulu's! I'll be posting it tomorrow in a weekly wears post, so you will be able to get a better look at it. :)
DeleteKatie! PLEASE tell me she plays some of her older songs, too. Not just the new album. Please tell me it is so!
ReplyDeleteShe played a very well-rounded catalog!
DeleteSweet, thank you. I am seeing her on the 29th.
DeleteOoooh, that is so exciting! Have fun!!
DeleteYour heart sunglasses are really cute. It looks like you had a nice time.
ReplyDeleteLooks like an amazing little vacay!! You guys look adorable, and NOT pregnant. I'm also glad (as with miss teacups) that I dont have that person in IG, as I too would always be mistaken for preggo. It's an effect that some dresses have, and it's usually the cutest dresses, so you deal with it.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'm incredibly envious over those potatoes from breakfast.
:)
Hahahaha "so sweetly pointed out." I am laughing out loud. Looks like an amazing trip! Can't wait to have one of my own :)
ReplyDeleteSo jealous I want to see Fiona Apple too!
ReplyDeleteYout two look adorable :)

ReplyDeleteYou guys are an adorable couple! I "heart"your sunglasses! :)
ReplyDeleteYou're pregnant alright!....with a food baby! (as we so crassly put it here in the uk!)
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a brilliant time away. x
You are so lovely Katie....you guys look like you had a great time! What a sweet gingham dress, too!
ReplyDeletePregnant? Nay...they just must be jealous! ;) In my opinion, you look amazing...you and your hubby are such a cute couple.
xoxo
What a fun looking diner!
ReplyDeleteYou look soo amazing in that gingham dress!! Not to mention that breakfast plate is making my mouth water! :)
ReplyDeleteThat 50's diner looks awesome! Looks like a fun time! What is your favorite Fiona song,if you could narrow it down? I don't understand why people say such crazy/immature things on the internet,I guess they have nothing better to do & because they can't say it face-to-face,but I'm glad y'all had a laugh about it! Silly people! :P Have a great Wednesday, lady!
ReplyDeleteOh goodness... I don't know! I guess if I had to choose a song that sticks out to me I'd pick "Oh Well", but I'm pretty sure a lot of the songs off the new album have some staying power, too. Plus there's every single song off of When the Pawn... I just don't know! Live she played "I Know" and it was completely moving. How about you? What would be your favorite?
DeleteI love the colors in that diner! You two are way too cute. =)
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a blast! LOVE LOVE LOVE the sunglasses!
ReplyDeleteYou are so beautiful...getaways are the best. I love your sunglasses.

Sounds like an amazing trip! So lucky to have seen Fiona live...it has always been a dream of mine! And that black dress is adorable!
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw that picture of the two of you all I thought was "They look so cute together!" and then I read your caption and thought "What? Pregnant?" and then proceeded to look at your belly in the picture trying to figure out why someone would think your pregnant and I couldn't. But anyway, this looks like a great weekend! I've been wanting to see Fiona Apple for a while now!
ReplyDeleteBest,
Sapir @ smellthewildflowers.blogspot.com
I can see why someone may say "pregnant looking" but barely, and not really :) I'm glad to see you touched up your roots, for a while the brown roots of your hair were showing a lot. Roots bug me like crazy lol
ReplyDeleteI can tell!
DeleteFirst off, you don't even look remotely pregnant! Not sure why anyone would say that. I hate the big meal/tight clothes dilemma. Just a few weeks ago I went out for a big breakfast with my hubby and as I was paying at the front counter, an elderly guy asked when I was due. !!! He was very apologetic when I told him I wasn't pregnant but, wow, did that throw me for a loop.
ReplyDeleteOh no! That is seriously the worst! My FIL is notorious for saying those sorts of things to people.
DeleteI just stumbled upon your blog by accident, and this is the very first entry I've read... But I think I'm in love! Best sunglasses I've ever seen (where are they from?), nice pictures and I really dig your hair colour. Plus, you and your guy really look sweet toghether, it makes me happy. I'm going to spend a good couple of hours discovering the rest of your blog tonight!
ReplyDeleteHello, I'm glad you stopped by!
DeleteMy heart sunnies are from Tumbleweeds (http://tumbleweedshandcraft.bigcartel.com/). They make GREAT sunglasses!
weird! we are also seeing Fiona Apple tomorrow night in downtown denver and staying at the Sheriton!
ReplyDeleteI love the City Diner! I was at the show, too! I go to many a show at the Peabody! Its one of my favorite venues in the stl! My last one was Ryan Adams.
ReplyDeletei'm like a million years late cruising over to your blog, especially since so many of my galfriends have been reading for ages! excited to catch up on old posts. love those ate-too-much kinda weekends with my guy!
ReplyDeleteThat MUST be the City Diner! Since moving to St. Louis, it's become one of my favorite spots. You two look amazingly happy, and whoever said pregnant is an idiot! Lovely, yes, pregnant, no!
ReplyDeleteWe saw Fiona Apple in LA on Sunday! She is just breathtaking. I was so excited to FINALLY see her in concert.
