Making:  I spent the night making flower crowns from floral tape, flowers, and wire last night because... well... because it was the exact kind of project I needed.  Plus, flower crowns are so darn pretty.

Anticipating:  An ice cream date we have planned with my mom tonight.  The girls will be getting a good dose of ice cream and grandma time.  :)

Learning:  Some new sewing skills.  I've decided it's time for me to start making some of my own clothing-- not for sale, just for my own pleasure.  :)  (The picture below is just an example of smocking, not something that I made from scratch.)

Listening to:  Fiona Apple obsessively because we are seeing her on Saturday!  I'm so excited!!  Plus, we are going with some of our dearest friends, so it's going to be a fantastic weekend.

Wearing:  My new Tumbleweeds sunglasses non-stop.   I've been putting in contacts JUST because I want to wear them.

Plotting:  An amazing birthday surprise for a friend.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE surprising people!  It's one of my very favorite things in life.

**Inspiration for this post originally came from Danielle Hampton of Sometimes Sweet.

  2. I want to start doing some pleasure sewing also. No pressure, just fun. I also want to make some of those twisty hair ties you posted recently for my shop. So simple and customizable. Thanks for all your inspiration. Is like a better view of that dress you made.

  5. I just can't bring myself to try contacts, but I would deal with being half-blind just to wear those awesome shades.

  6. I love flower crowns, but have no idea where to wear one-- thats when being a kid was the grooviest-- wearing tutus & tiaras & having people say how cute you are...just can't get away with it as an adult lol

  8. I got a pair of Tumbleweeds glasses through Fab.com a couple months ago and have used every excuse to wear them. I even spent a Saturday inside wearing them while I cleaned the house. I love, love, love, love them.

  12. Fiona doesn't get half the attention she deserves, and she gets better and better. Do you like the new album? It's so different, but I love it. Please update us on how the show was, I missed it when she was in my town!

  13. Those sunglasses rock. I love surprising people too. Sounds like your friend is very lucky!

My boyfriend just bought me a sewing machine for my birthday (I have been talking about learning to sew for over a year now)... so no more excuses for me. I can't wait to learn some fun techniques once I get the basics down. Are you going to post some of the things you make with your new sewing skills? I certainly hope so! =)

  19. Hey good luck with your clothing adventure! I use to do little pieces for me too, it's so fun!
I love smocking point, when I was little I had a lot of dresses with handbroidered smocking point, here in Spain we call this kind of point "Nido de Abeja" wich means literally "bees nest", so cute, don't you think?
    Loving your sunglasses!

  26. I love that you were able to add smocking to your dress - yet another reason I need a sewing machine! I just did a little outfit post from my visit to Joshua Tree, take a look on my blog if you can!
