I've been choosing to stay on the thinner side of commissions lately. I do love taking custom orders, but Poesy is at that age where, until I have a separate space to work, it just doesn't happen if she is awake. It's GREAT fun throwing fabric and shredding stuffing! Let's not even talk about the needles and scissors that she'd love to get her hands on if she could. When I do get a chance to sew, it's always during nap time or late at night after she has gone to bed. It's not such a bad thing, though. Eliminating (sewing) work during her awake hours just means that I get to focus on her instead of worrying about a million deadlines.
Here are a couple of my favorite things I've been working on recently. My favorite thing right now is being commissioned to do birthday cake toppers. Everything's more fun with a birthday hat, right? ;)
Just in case there is any question, the little guy on the left is a hedgehog and the gal on the right is a whale. I love the idea of these sitting atop a child's cake! So special.
I hope you all have a lovely Friday!
bah! these are so cute! love them.

ReplyDeleteomg, those are really cute!! specially love the whale *___*
ReplyDeletebut there really is a time for everything, and your girl will appreciate that you wanted her to be safe <3
I love your little creatures, and that birthday hat is such a cute idea!
ReplyDeleteI so know the feeling...
ReplyDeletemy boys are a bit older now (6&7), but with homeschooling I just can't be sewing all day long, they need my attention :) However, I have learned over the years that sometimes it's a good thing for me to walk away while they're working, it puts less pressure on them, and that's when I get to sew. As long as I put everything down during breaks so we get to spend time together instead of just being in the same room together :)

indeed, everything is better with a birthday hat (speaking as a girl with a birthday hat-ted snail :) )
ReplyDeleteThat's my first comment on your blog, and I'm not very sure about my english... but I wan't to tell you that your entries make me feel happy now that I'm in health troubles. I visit your blog very often and I ever get a smile on my face. It means a lot for me (and for my family).

ReplyDeleteOh my! I can SO relate to you Katie! No that Rylee is mobile....there is very little "work" getting accomplished during her awake hours. Although, less work does mean more time to focus on HER....so I agree, can't really complain much there! Love your little toppers. xo
ReplyDeleteCutie cake toppers!!! Yes, everything w a b-day hat IS cuter. I needle felt and one of my favorite customers recently gave me one of her little critters I did a while back and asked if I could put a party hat on. Of course I said,"gladly!"
ReplyDeleteSo so adorable !
ReplyDeleteThese are absolutely, you are truly talented and sound like a terrific mom too :)
ReplyDeleteYour cake toppers are probably the most unique toppers I've ever seen. And I love them oh so much!
ReplyDeleteHello i was wondering what hair color you use on your hair? I am a natural red head and would like to brighten mine up like yours. :)
ReplyDeleteI want one for my birthday cake.
ReplyDeleteOohhh these are adorable! Too bad I found this too late. :( My little one's 1st birthday party is just 9 days to go..
ReplyDeletei know how hard it is to craft (especially sew) when you have a growing, running, and snatching toddler in the house. :D
