Weekly Wears: A Good Horse

Thank you all so much for your comments on yesterday's post.  I was all teary (and a little weepy) reading through them.  <3

I have two favorite parts of the this outfit.  The first is the shoes... which don't belong to me... and the second is the horse necklace...

Dress:  ModCloth
Tank:  Target
Shoes:  Borrowed
Necklaces:  Handmade

I can remember the first time I ever really "heard" a Wurlitzer.  I was listening to an A Camp album, I heard that little piano and it was all over for me.  I had a BAD case of the wants.

Fast forward a couple of months:   Johnny secretly bought me one off of Ebay and was going to surprise me with it on Christmas.  The plan was I would walk downstairs, see it, and totally melt.  Welllll, the Ebay seller kept making excuses for why she couldn't ship it that week, and she couldn't ship it this week, until finally a couple of months had gone by.  In hindsight he would've just canceled the transaction, but we hadn't dealt with any crooker Ebay sellers up to that point.  So finally Christmas came and went, my birthday had come and gone, and that thing still never showed.  I was told about the elaborate surprise that he had secretly been stressing over for months, and it was like a weight was lifted off of his shoulders.

I was instructed to scope out a different Wurly and we would just buy it.  I found one, it arrived, and I was so giddy and so thankful.  What an amazingly sweet gesture!  When we popped it open to try and tune it (note: DO NOT try and tune one yourself- frustration city) and there was a little gold horseshoe laying inside.  I thought of all the different scenarios of how this little pendant had gotten inside my piano, and it made it even more special.

Side note:  that lady shipped the first Wurly once we canceled payment.  It arrived on our doorstep THREE DIFFERENT TIMES because she kept having them re-deliver it.  By the third time I saw it the box was totally busted, a corner of the piano was sticking out and things were rattling around inside.  What a sad story for such a beautiful instrument.

Anyway, that's my long story.  Bless those of you who read through all of it.  ;)
xoxo Katie

  1. Wow what an adventure over a piano! I feel bad that the lady was such a jerk to you guys, but at least you found one to call your own. I think the little horse is a sign that it's a good one.

  14. katie, I love your last post so much! After reading this post I was reminded of your musical gifts and wondering how on earth a talented person such as yourself could think that you didn't have that special something that you thought everyone else did. At any rate, even before this post I've often thought I'd love to see more posts about your music and even videos of you performing. Please, please, please!

  24. Love the shoes!

I bought several electric pianos/casiotones off the internet, and most times they were damaged before they arrived or never turned up. I think they must be bad luck! Lucky the second one turned up ok. It's sad the first didn't make it.
