Phones, the Interweb, and Music Monday

My phone is dead.  It is.  It died Saturday.  Unfortunately for me, my husband had the car, the internet was out, and my phone had decided to kick the bucket.  It was a crazy feeling.  I couldn't read blogs, I couldn't text friends, I couldn't even run to the store to grab anything.  I was trapped.  Then I started thinking about life before the internet and smart phones and whatnot.  It was quite a different time... at least it was for me.  After I got done with the initial shock of not having any means of communication, I had the most productive night in months.  I'm not saying I'm ready to give up or take a break from the e-world, I'm just saying that, at least for a little while, when it's time to work I'm going to start pretending like it's the 90s and I'm too poor for computers.  Oh yeah... and what's a cell phone?  *wink, wink*  I think it's going to be a mighty productive summer for Skunkboy Creatures (Ha, if I can stick to this!).

So... here's my Music Monday contribution for this week.  I've been listening to the new Death Cab album pretty much non-stop for the last couple of weeks.  I've said this before, but Death Cab is a huge part of my summertime soundtrack.  What do you think of the new album?

Have a great Monday, friends!  I'm off to grab some sno cones and spend some time with my sweet little family.  :)   xoxo Katie

  2. I really need to learn to do this once in a while. I have the internet constantly with me because of my iPhone. It's probably not healthy :D

  4. I layed my cellphone to rest after this happened: http://saffakate.blogspot.com/2011/06/gumby-stops-brain-tumors.html

So I know how you feel. I have actually never owned a "smart" phone until i just purchased my replacement phone and I feel like my brain is stuck in the 90's trying to understand this contraption.

  5. Isn't being disconnected such a freeing feeling? I always feel I have to respond to everything so quickly when I have my phone near me or computer at the ready. I cut everyone off at 8 every night (well, phone wise). Just leave the ringer on in case of emergencies. It's fantastic!

I've only heard great things about the new DCFC album, I need to actually listen to it.

  13. I know what ya mean! Ever now and then the internet will go out and its such a strange feeling..like being disconnected from the matrix! However, I totally miss the 90's - pagers & pay phones! ;) I find it kinda liberating whenever I accidentally forget my cell at home!
