Music Monday: Shell Games

Today's pick is "Shell Games" from the new Bright Eyes album.  I get a lot
of guff for liking Bright Eyes/Conor Oberst, but I can't help myself.
"I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning" and "Cassadaga" are such great albums.
I don't care for the albums before these, but the love I have for them
makes up for it.  ;)

I hope you enjoy!  Happy Monday!!! xoxo Katie

  2. I LOVE this song! It's so anthematic but not at the same time. I've been singing it like mad in my car! :)

  3. Cassadaga was one of my favorite albums ever. To make a long long LONG story short, when that album was about to come out, my best friend and I scoured the Internet for it. Instead, we found his long lost brother and father in a small town about two hours from cassadaga, Florida. A couple months later him and I went to the bright eyes tour, and it was perfect.

Obviously that album holds a lot of sentimental value for the both of us.

  8. I'm soo right there with you. I've had such a thing for this man forever, and I love this song too.

You have good taste Ms. Katie! And I guess that's kind of complimenting myself too since we seem to like a lot of the same things! haha! ;)

  9. So good! I had a huge celeb crush on Conor in high school...I think I still do! I get a lot of crap for liking his music too but then again I get poked fun at for anything I listen to because I don't know many folks who share a similar taste in music with me :(

  11. random question about your shoes in the picture…I just ordered the black version and they look kind of cheap to me, I was just wondering if you recommend them and if they have held up well for you. Thank You!

  12. Why would you ever get flak for liking Bright Eyes?! I love them. We danced to "First Day of My Life" as our wedding song.

I am really liking the new album so far.

  14. I love Bright Eyes too, but sadly I don't even know the albums you speak of. I heard them on the radio one day and just went out and bought any album that I found, which was Lifted and I mostly love it. I'm liking the new album too lately. I love First Day of my Life, that's a really sweet wedding song Amanda :)

  15. I love Bright Eyes! Not too long ago they had a few songs up for free download, including Haile Selassie (probably spelling that wrong). Check, just in case! My favourite song by them, ever, though, is First Day of My Life. I just love it :)

  16. I still get crap for liking Bright Eyes, but Lifted is my favorite album.

  17. YES! Although I don't like The People's Key as much as the older stuff, Shell Games still makes me smile. No flack for loving them here. First Day of my Life, literally was the first day of my life. <3 <3

  18. I grew up in Omaha, so I know a lot of people with "this one time I met Conor Oberst" stories (also, my mom has this hilarious, ridiculous grudge against him because she used to work with his mom and hated her). He sounds like an unpleasant sort of person, but he does make good music.

  19. After my last post, I realized that I did once own "It's Morning, I'm Wide Awake" and I can't find it anywhere, ughhh. And, Breezy, Nananananananana, not listening, don't burst my bubble! :)
